We’ve been closely following the situation with the Disney Cruise Line.

As the big debut of the newest ship, the Disney Wish, draws nearer, the Disney Cruise Line’s departures have remained suspended. However, the CDC recently announced requirements for cruises to resume under its Framework for Conditional Sailing Order, and we’re starting to see more progress.

One of the requirements to resume sailing is the successful completion of test cruises, unless 98% of the crew and 95% of the passengers are fully vaccinated.  And according to Fox35 Orlando, Disney announced today that it would set sail on a test cruise on June 29th.

The test cruise is a 2-night simulation, which will depart from Port Canaveral with volunteer passengers onboard. We’re seeing similar test cruises from Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean, as cruise lines make steps towards their return.

Cynthia Martinez, Disney Cruise Line’s Director of Communications & Public Affairs, shared, “We have reached an important next step toward our gradual and responsible resumption of service…We look forward to our amazing crew once again creating magic for our guests and to helping the many workers who support our industry get back to work.”

Disney Cruise Line has announced a vaccination requirement for its U.K. Staycations at Sea this summer, but there is no word on how that may translate into its “normal” passenger cruises. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is pushing to include cruise lines in a new law that forbids businesses from requiring proof of vaccination.
