Hello from Avengers Campus!
We’ve been exploring the land just a few days before it officially opens, and we’ve got LOTS to show ya! We’ve already checked out the eats at Pym Test Kitchen and the experience onboard WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. But if you’re a TRUE Marvel fan (or you just appreciate some good ol’ theme park secrets), you’ll want to know that there are plenty of Easter eggs for you to spot around Avengers Campus!
You may know that Disney loves hiding hidden tributes to movies, characters, Imagineers, and more around their theme parks. And we’ve already found quite a few that we want to show ya! Let’s dig in.
Pym Test Kitchen
Pym Test Kitchen features some seriously wacky eats — we’re talkin’ a HUGE $100 Pym-ini and a Not so Little Chicken Sandwich! But the fun doesn’t end there, because there’s an Easter egg in here, too!
See those massive ketchup and mustard bottles?! There’s a set on either side of the restaurant, and they’re a nod to Disney California Adventure’s old Bountiful Valley Farm Area! And the date on ’em is 2001, aka the year Disney California Adventure opened.
On either side of the restaurant, you’ll also see a 6-pack of soda on the ceiling. The hoses wind alllll the way down to the Coke Freestyle Machines, and are held together with a bread twist tie.
On the right side of the restaurant, that tie is labeled 06APR, which is Paul Rudd’s (Ant-Man!) birthday.
And on the left, side, it’s labeled 03AUG. That’s Evangeline Lilly’s (Hope Pym!) birthday.
Pretty neat, right?!
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
We’ve got LOTS to break down in WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, friends. This ride is chock-full of hidden messages and cool details! In the indoor queue, you’ll spot a waiting room with a big sign. It features 5 characters — Peter Parker, Onome, Harley Keener, Doreen Green, and Lunella Lafayette — who were the engineers behind the Web Slinger vehicles!
Each person’s board highlights their specific contribution to the project.
You’ll also want to keep an eye out for a wall of lockers that nods to Harley Keener, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Mary Jane Watson!
And a glass bulletin board with a little Wall-E keychain pays tribute Imagineer Grisol Ramirez, who passed in a tragic car accident.
All right, friends. We’re movin’ into the pre-show room. There are whiteboards in here that have REAL science equations on ’em (and that math actually checks out to how webs would be built and how you could sling them around).
There’s also a nifty little desk set-up, which is bursting with Easter egg eye candy. There’s a Luxo Lamp…
…and a nod to Disney Imagineering! The WD-40 on the table has been labeled WDI-1401.
Lastly, dial the Lucky Dog’s Pizza’s number and you’ll get a message telling you the line has been disconnected!
Throughout the ride as a whole, you’ll spot plenty of other inside jokes and Marvel references. So keep an eye out!
WEB Suppliers
Now it’s off to WEB Suppliers, which sells WEB Tech, Spider-Bots, and SO much more. We’ve got 2 Easter Eggs to point out here!
First up, you’ll spot a potato gun wayyy at the top of the shelves. That was invented by a brilliant WEB Tech engineer — and it’s gone missing from the labs! Seems like we managed to track it down.
On the other side of the shelving unit, there’s a jar of acorns. Another engineer keeps pet squirrels, and this jar was her contribution to the store!
Hey, it’s an interesting choice for interior design — but it’s a fun touch!
Outside
There are a few MORE details that you can spot while out and about, just roamin’ around the land. You’ll find parking signs sprinkled around campus for different people like Peggy Carter…
…Edwin Jarvis…
…and Howard Stark!
And check out ANOTHER nod to Lucky Dog’s Pizza!
Looks like it’s pizza parking only here. Sorry, folks.
And one of our favorite Easter eggs are the 3 trees on one side of WEB Slingers. There’s a HUGE middle tree with an average ol’ tree on either side.
On either side of the tree, there’s a pipe with green goo coming out of it.
That makes this a Hulk tree! That, right there, is a Disney detail at its finest.
If you find yourself at Avengers Campus soon, keep an eye out for these Easter eggs! It sure is fun wandering around the land while you try to spot them all. Let us know how many YOU can find, and stay tuned to DFB for plenty more Avengers Campus news!
