BREAKING: Disney World Skyliner Gondolas Have Reportedly Crashed Again

Disney World may be the Most Magical Place on Earth, but that doesn’t mean that things always go perfectly.

Skyliner Entrance

While the Disney World Skyliner Gondola System generally runs pretty smoothly, it has had its fair share of issues. In October of 2019, there was an accident where the gondolas crashed into each other and in April of this year another crash occurred. Now, it appears that some Skyliner gondolas have crashed again.

A huge thanks to Cameron Dudeck (@camerondudeck via Twitter) who posted these photos online and allowed us to share them with you. As Dudeck shared, it appears some Skyliner gondolas have crashed into each other at the EPCOT Skyliner station.

Here’s a closer look at the vehicles that appear to have hit each other.

This is what the photos appear to show and what is being reported at the moment. Our reporters have not seen this crash in person, but we are on the lookout for more information.

Another big thank you to Kelly Cross (@ArendelleKel on Twitter) for posting this video and allowing us to share it with you. In the video you can see Cross talk about how they had been stuck on the Skyliner for about 30 minutes, and you can hear sirens passing by in the video.

Cross also posted a follow-up message indicating that they were able to get off the Skyliner and received ice cold water, a $25 gift card, a free umbrella after leaving theirs on the Skyliner, and passes to enjoy EPCOT for the evening.

This is a developing situation. At this moment, Disney has not shared any official information on this crash, what caused this accident to take place, or any other updates. We’ll continue to update this post or share new posts with you as we learn more.

The EPCOT Skyliner Station

This is the third time that the Disney Skyliner has crashed. Back during the 2019 crash, guests were left stranded mid-air for three hours.

We have also seen a various incidents where guests have been stuck on the Skyliner due to weather issues or technical difficulties.

Disney does have emergency kits on the Skyliner.

These kits include a few packets of drinking water, cool packs, a pencil and notepad, a whistle, a glow stick, and a few blue cups.

As we mentioned before, the Skyliner is usually a great and reliable way to get around Disney World, but it can experience issues or temporarily shut down for a variety of reasons.

If you encounter a time when the Skyliner is closed, there will generally be signage posted and Cast Members available, directing guests to alternative forms of transportation.

Skyliner Not Operating

If you want to know more about how to handle emergency situations and evacuations in Disney World, check out our video below.

We’ll continue to look for more updates on the current Skyliner situation and let you know what we find.
