Today the Flavors of Florida event kicked off in Disney Springs!
During this event, you’ll find all kinds of Florida-inspired dishes and merchandise at various Disney Springs restaurants and stores. So far, we’ve had some Orange Bird in CHOCOLATE form from The Ganachery, a donut that tasted like they shoved an entire key lime pie into it, and more! Now, we’re headed to Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ for 2 dishes!
As part of the Flavors of Florida event, Homecomin’ is serving up 2 special items — Tender Fried Gator Bites and a Floradora Cocktail! Yes, you read that right, fried GATOR!

They are served with a house-made remoulade and hot sauce.
If you’ve always wanted to try fried gator, now’s your chance! This gator was perfectly fried and not greasy at all. The batter was very similar to their fried chicken batter, but our server shared that there is some orange zest added to the gator.
The house made sauces were also delicious! The hot sauce had a little kick to it, but wasn’t too spicy.
If you’re not a fan of fried, salty foods though, you may want to pass. But, if you enjoy fried chicken or you’re already a fan of fried gator, we have a feeling you will love these! You can grab them for $15.
Next, it was time for the Floradora Cocktail. This isn’t exactly a new item though. We actually had the Floradora Cocktail at Homecomin’ back in early 2020. But, since it is listed as one of the special items for the Flavors of Florida event, we just had to grab it again.
The Floradora Cocktail is made with a mix of Fords gin, freshly muddled raspberries and freshly squeezed lime juice, house-made simple syrup, and a splash of Q Spectacular ginger beer.
The cocktail was delicious and refreshing! The lime juice and muddled raspberries really made it taste very fresh. There’s a little spice from the gin and ginger beer, which is balanced with the perfect amount of sweetness from the house made simple syrup.
You don’t really taste the alcohol at first, but after drinking a full one you’ll know it’s there! If you don’t like raspberries, then this is probably not the drink for you as that is the predominant flavor. But, if you’re a fan of raspberries and like gin, we think you’ll enjoy this refreshing twist on a cocktail.
Plus, it’s very colorful and fun to snap a photo of! You can grab the Floradora Cocktail for $13.
The Flavors of Florida event will be going on until August 12th, so be sure to stop by Disney Springs by then to see all of these limited-time eats.
We’ll keep an eye out for more details and updates about this event and other new things going on around Disney World. Stay tuned for all the latest Disney news!
