Read This Ride Closure and Construction Update If You’re Visiting Disney World Next Week!

We’re checking around the parks and hotels in Disney World to find out what’s under construction and what’s coming back soon!

Check out that new roof!

Here’s a complete list of attractions and hotels that are scheduled to be closed for construction next week in Disney World!

Disney’s Magic Kingdom is the only park with refurbishments scheduled for next week! EPCOT does still have construction walls up, but those are covering new rides that are under construction rather than existing rides undergoing updates!

Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Let’s take a look at what’s going on in the Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World Railroad

The Walt Disney World Railroad has been down for a while now, since construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run has gotten in the way of its track over in Tomorrowland! We’re not expecting to see this one back until TRON is completed, but Disney hasn’t released an official day for its return!

We miss you, real railroad station!

Until then, there’s still the scrim up with an image of the Railroad Station on them! If you need a Disney World railroad in the meantime, you could stop by Big Thunder Mountain Railroad over in Frontierland!

Main Street Confectionery

The train station isn’t the only thing getting a makeover on Main Street, though! The Main Street confectionery is also still getting updates.

Main Street Confectionery is officially closed!

The Main Street Confectionery is currently scheduled to be closed through September 18th. It’s possible that the refurbishment calendar could update to extend the Confectionery’s closure, so we’ll make sure to keep you updated! In the meantime, you can satisfy your sweet tooth at the newly reopened Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom!

The Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents is another Magic Kingdom attraction that’s down for construction!

Hall of Presidents

Imagineers are installing the new President Joe Biden animatronic. Disney hasn’t yet announced when this attraction will open again. But it’s scheduled to be closed at least through September 25th, which is as far as the calendar currently goes for Disney refurbishments.

Now we’ll show you some of the hotels around Disney world that are getting updates and refurbishments!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

One BIG Polynesian Village Resort update is that the restaurant ‘Ohana is now open! You can make reservations now to enjoy the delicious Polynesian-inspired food inside the Polynesian Resort!

‘Ohana

Elsewhere inside the Polynesian Resort, there are still some updates going on. The entrance is undergoing changes, some rooms are getting a Moana-themed makeover, and the monorail station is under construction.

The entrance is coming along!

Disney has announced that the Polynesian will be reopening on July 19th! The check-in desk and guest services will move from their temporary location at the Pago Pago building back to the Great Ceremonial House on the 19th. Magical Express and valet services will be under the new entrance as well! Guests will need to enter from the side entrance, however, as some construction will continue on the front. Cast members will be there to help you find it!

More work on the new monorail station

The monorail station will not open on the 19th, though. Disney hasn’t yet announced when this construction will be finished!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is another hotel that’s undergoing a big update! Disney announced new Incredibles-themed rooms that are coming to the Contemporary! The main tower rooms are also getting an update.

Disney originally planned for the rooms to be finished by this September, so we’ll keep you updated as we hear more about this project! The Wave Restaurant in the Contemporary resort is also getting a retheme

The Wave will be closed starting July 16th, but Disney has announced that it is expected to be open again in time for the 50th Anniversary Celebrations, which begin October 1st of this year. In addition to the rooms and The Wave, Disney’s Contemporary Resort lobby is going to be closed for refurbishment starting July 16th until September 2021.

The Contemporary will direct guests to the second floor instead of the front desk and concierge. Guests can also use the online check-in and direct-to-room service, which you can find on the My Disney Experience app!
