Can You Match the Celebrity to the Disney World Attraction They’re In?

Have you ever been on a Disney World attraction and hear a familiar voice or see a familiar face that you just KNOW from somewhere?

Pirates of the Caribbean

Like maybe it was at Magic Kingdom on Pirates of the Caribbean or maybe you were at EPCOT watching Canada Far and Wide. Or maybe some of those characters on the Dinosaur video at Disney’s Animal Kingdom look familiar.

Well, it turns out that there are a LOT of celebrities in attractions at Disney World, and that’s why you recognize many of those voices and faces. But just how many can you name? We’re going to help you out here — here’s where you can find each celebrity voice and/or face at Disney World.

Magic Kingdom

Pirates of the Caribbean

So, we’re pretty sure you’ve spotted both the likeness AND the voice of Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. Both he and actor Geoffrey Rush reprised their roles from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies when the ride got re-themed in 2006.

Yo ho! Yo ho!

You used to hear the voice of actor Bill Nighy reprising his role as Davy Jones (you used to be able to see his face on the waterfall as he issues his warning to guests).

Have YOU Ever Noticed This Pirates of the Caribbean Detail in Disney World?

Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid

It only makes sense to use the voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid in the attraction devoted to her, so Jodi Bensen also stars as Ariel in Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. Her beautiful voice is iconic and lends itself to fully immersing guests in the story.

Kiss the Girl!

You’ll also hear the fantastic Pat Carroll reprising her role as Ursula as only she can! Granted, they are predominantly featured in their recorded songs from the film, but it counts! Sadly, Buddy Hackett, the voice of Scuttle in the film, does not voice the silly bird here. He passed away in 2003 and was voiced here by Chris Edgerly.

Splash Mountain

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay! There are several voices in the classic Disney attraction Splash Mountain. Uncle Phil himself, James Avery, from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is the voice of Br’er Frog!

Everybody’s got a laughin’ place

And he pulls double duty on the ride because he’s also the voice of Br’er Bear! And voice actor Jess Harnell (known mostly for his voice as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos and as Wakko in Animaniacs) lends his talents as Mr. Bluebird, the Geese, and the Vulture!

Mickey’s PhilHarmagic

You can hear Mr. Bean actor Rowan Atkinson as Zazu during the show! And Gilbert Gottfried reprised his role from Aladdin as Iago for Mickey’s PhilHarmagic.

Mickey’s PhilHarmagic

Gottfried also voiced Iago in The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management, but as fate would have it, after guests overwhelmingly criticized the changes to that show, a fire in the attic resulting in the ride closing for a period of time only to revert to its previously charming incarnation.

Here Are The  NEW Changes Coming To Mickey’s PhilharMagic!

The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh

How can we mention anything Pooh-related without mentioning the incomparable Jim Cummings? He’s been the voice of Pooh since 1988 and is also the voice of Pooh in The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh.

Is this the most charming ride in Magic Kingdom?

We can’t imagine any other voice as Pooh now! Oh bother! But keep reading — you’ll hear his voice elsewhere in Disney World, too! (Our favorite used to be hearing him as the narrator of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth in EPCOT!)

Haunted Mansion

A voice you’ll hear all over Disney World is the bassy tone of Thurl Ravenscroft, who lends his voice to one of the singing busts in the cemetery scene in Haunted Mansion. But you can also hear him in Country Bear Jamboree, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Enchanted Tiki Room.

A voice in here might seem eerily familiar…

And if his voice sounds familiar, you’ll soon know why — he’s the one who sang “You’re A Mean One, Mister Grinch” in the original How The Grinch Stole Christmas AND he was famously the voice of Tony the Tiger! That voice is unmistakable.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Are you ready to rock? Well, this one is probably one you knew because one of the greatest rock frontmen of all time stars in this attraction. We’re talking about Steven Tyler. But of course, his band Aerosmith is featured as part of the ride’s pre-show — as well as in its music.

Aerosmith doing their thing

Love in an elevator? How about love on a roller coaster! The band actually re-recorded this song to fit the ride! Aerosmith’s tunes are PERFECT for this thrill ride.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

One cannot simply enter The Twilight Zone without the voice and face of the man who introduced every episode of the original version of this show during its time on television, Rod Serling. “You unlock this door with the key of imagination…”

Rod Serling

Although the face is his in the attraction (Disney used old footage for the pre-show video), the voice isn’t (Serling had passed on by the time Tower of Terror was built).

Rise of the Resistance

Disney spared no expense in bringing Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to life, so the Rise of the Resistance ride is star-studded with such big Star Wars actors like Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and Domhnall Gleeson — all reprising their roles from the Star Wars sequels films!

That’s just one of many reasons as to why this ride is still one of the hottest — and hardest — tickets to get at Disney World!

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run

When you go through the pre-show of Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, you meet Hondo Ohnaka and get the opportunity to help him run some goods (smuggle, he means smuggle) on the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. And if he sounds familiar, remember the voice of Winnie the Pooh? Yep, Hondo is voiced by Jim Cummings.

Hi, Hondo!

He also voiced Hondo in the Star Wars animated series.

Star Tours

When you prepare to board Star Tours, you’ll hear a droid giving you some helpful information about departure times, boarding, and safety. That droid is voiced by award-winning actress Allison Janney.

Now boarding…

But Janney was no newcomer to Disney when she voiced the droid — you can also hear her in the Finding Nemo movie and the Phineas and Ferb TV show.

Toy Story Mania!

Interestingly enough, the voice of Woody in Toy Story Mania! is NOT Tom Hanks. Instead, you’ll hear the voice of his younger brother Jim Hanks. But Tim Allen reprised his role as Buzz Lightyear here (although he is not the voice of Buzz over at Magic Kingdom’s Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin!).

You won’t hear Tom Hanks’ voice here.

You can also hear Phil Lamarr as Wheezy, Annie Potts as Bo Peep, John Ratzenberger as Hamm, and Wallace Shawn as Rex.

EPCOT

Journey Into Imagination With Figment

Sure, Figment might be the BIGGEST celebrity in Journey Into Imagination With Figment, but Monty Python star Eric Idle steals some scenes away from the purple dragon as Dr. Nigel Channing.

And of course, we have to mention the special homage to Robin Williams in the lobby of the Imagination Institute. There’s a tribute to Professor Philip Brainard, Williams’ role in the movie Flubber. You’ll also spot Rick Moranis as wacky scientist Wayne Szalinsnki from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids!

Spaceship Earth

“Like a grand and miraculous spaceship, our planet has sailed through the universe of time; and for a brief moment we have been among its passengers.” And yes, that’s a line from Spaceship Earth, narrated by the one and only Dame Judi Dench.

There’s a HUGE star’s voice inside this big ball

Although Spaceship Earth was supposed to get an upgrade, that seems to be on hold, so we’re happy we get to hear this narration for a little while longer.

Canada Far and Wide

While you’re inside the Canada Pavilion’s 360-degree theater getting sweeping vista views of the grandeur of Canada, you might wonder about those voices you’re hearing during the Canada Far and Wide film. And if you think a few of those belong to Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy of Schitt’s Creek fame (among MANY other things), you would be right!

Canada Far and Wide

We mean, they are two of Canada’s funniest people, right? Moira and Johnny Rose would be proud.

Soarin’ Around The World

The Soarin’ pre-show features a Chief Flight Attendant, who gives you all your instructions for having the best and safest trip possible all over the world. But he isn’t just any regular guy, he’s Patrick Warburton, who’s been on everything from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Soarin’ Pre-Show

However, we remember him fondly as the voice of Kronk in The Emperor’s New Groove. You can also hear him on Star Tours as one of the droids. Nice work, pal!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Dinosaur

Dinosaur’s Dr. Seeker, the scientist gone rogue that sends us all back in time to be terrified by a T-Rex, is none other than Wallace Langham from CSI.

It’s Dr. Seeker!

You’ll also recognize his boss, played by none other than Clair Huxtable from The Cosby Show — Phylicia Rashad. Let’s go get that dino!

It’s Tough To Be A Bug

If you’ve seen the movie A Bug’s Life, you might recognize ALL the voices in It’s Tough To Be A Bug. That’s because they’re actors who returned to reprise their roles from the movie for the attraction.

It’s Tough to Be a Bug

You’ll hear Dave Foley, Cheech Marin, French Stewart, and Jason Alexander during the theatrical presentation. Kevin Spacey didn’t reprise his role voicing villain Hopper though!
