Welcome to our update of what’s going to be closed in the Disney parks this week!
A few rides and attractions remain closed for construction, but one ride is coming off the list of refurbishments to reopen in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Let’s take a look at these and other closures going on in Disney World so that you know what to expect on your upcoming trip.
The only scheduled attraction closures in Disney World this week are happening in Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom Attraction Closures
The Liberty Square Riverboat has been closed for refurbishment for a few days.
It’s set to reopen on Wednesday, September 1st, 2021. Since it had a fairly short closure, the updates were likely routine maintenance and re-touching the details on the boat.
We’re happy that we can sail again soon on this beauty! Another Magic Kingdom attraction isn’t quite so lucky, though — the Walt Disney World Railroad is still scheduled to be closed for all of this week.
Although the construction on the Main Street, U.S.A. station has been finished (and we’re enjoying the tarp-less view of the station), the ride won’t be reopening for a while. The tracks were interrupted by TRON: Lightcycle Run construction in Tomorrowland, so we likely won’t be seeing the railroad running until that has been completed.
Elsewhere on Main Street, U.S.A., the Main Street Confectionery remains closed as well. This project also doesn’t have an ending date yet, but we’re expecting it to be closed through September at least.
Updates are coming to the Confectionery’s interior, so for now you’ll need another spot to grab a sweet treat in the Magic Kingdom. We’d recommend Big Top Souvenirs in Storybook Circus, which has a treat stand inside and lots of seating!
That’s all the closures in the parks, so let’s head to some Disney World hotels to see what else is closed this week.
Disney World Hotel Closures
One of the biggest construction projects in a Disney World hotel right now is happening at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Updates are coming to the guest rooms there in the form of a new Incredibles theme!
The lobby is closed for refurbishments at the Contemporary, so guests will be asked to go to the second floor for check-in and concierge services. And The Wave…of American Flavors restaurant inside is being updated as well, becoming Steakhouse 71.
The newly themed restaurant is expected to open in time for the 50th Anniversary Celebrations, which begin October 1st.
Just a short Monorail ride away is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — but you won’t be able to use the Monorail here.
The Monorail station at the Polynesian is still under construction. While the Monorail does pass through this station, guests are not able to board or get off here. We saw a peek at some of the construction updates when we rode through here recently!
And finally, construction is happening in the lobby areas at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, and Disney’s Old Key West Resort.
If you’re staying in one of these hotels soon, you may be redirected to another spot for check-in services. Or you can use online check-in and — with the My Disney Experience app — go straight to your room when you arrive.
That’s all for the closures this week in Disney World. Keep following DFB and we’ll let you know about any more updates in the parks.
