It’s nearly September, which means Disney World’s 50th anniversary is almost here!

With the 50th Anniversary Celebration kicking off on October 1st, we’ve been spotting small changes throughout Disney World, like the addition of the 50th Anniversary sign on Cinderella Castle and new banners in the parks. Today we found a pretty big change that could signal the start of some exciting things that are coming as part of the celebration!

In Magic Kingdom today, we came across this new shimmery structure surrounding the Partners Statue in front of Cinderella Castle.

The stage has the Disney World logo for the 50th anniversary, and it surrounds the Partners Statue in a sort of star-shape with four points.

The stage is blue in the center, surrounded by a shimmery “EARidescent” structure. We’ve seen this shimmery color used in some of the decorations, some 50th anniversary merchandise, the upcoming Cast Member name tags for the 50th, and more. This EARidescent structure shines with a variety of pink, blue, yellow, purple, and other colors.

We also noticed what appears to be LED wiring around the stage, so it’s possible that the stage will light up. We saw the stage being worked on yesterday, and at that time a Cast Member indicated that it would be used for the filming of the 50th Anniversary special that will be airing later this year on ABC. If it is intended to only be used for the filming of the special, then it may eventually be removed when filming is done. Or, it’s possible this stage could stick around for a while. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for more updates about this addition to the park.

Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration will be an 18-month event, so even if you can’t make it to Disney World in 2021, you’ll have plenty of time to take part in all of the festivities. Keep reading DFB for all your 50th Anniversary Disney World news!
