Now We Have To Worry About SURGE PRICING On Our Disney World Rides?!

Disney Genie+ is a new paid service coming soon to Disney World and Disneyland. There’s a lot to unpack with this new Fastpass+ replacement, and we still have a lot of questions about how everything will work!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

One thing we do know is that guests who want to use the Lightning Lane will have to pay for select attractions separately, like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, by making Individual Attraction Selections. If you’ve been to Disneyland Paris recently, you might notice some similarities in the new Individual Attraction Selection process — let’s break it down!

Put simply: some of the more popular attractions in Disney World, like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and the upcoming Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, will soon cost extra if guests want to use the Lightning Lane (aka the old Fastpass line). Note: This will impact Disneyland Resort too!

Are you BLOWN away by these changes?

With this extra cost will come surge pricing, where the price of each attraction will vary depending on the time and day. Meaning, you might see higher prices when the parks are busy or on the holidays! If you’ve ever taken an Uber or Lyft, you might be familiar with the concept of surge pricing. It’s all about supply and demand, baby!

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

As we mentioned earlier, a version of this idea is already playing out in Disneyland Paris. The Paris version, called the Disneyland Paris Disney Premier Access program, allows guests to purchase Premier Access (FastPasses) for between €8 to €15 per person, per attraction, which is about $9 to $18. We don’t know what the prices will be like in Disney World yet, but the Premier Access prices could be a good indicator.

Keep in mind that the Individual Attraction Selection system will give guests a choice of 2 attractions per person per day. We still don’t have a full list of all the attractions that will utilize the Individual Attraction Selection program, but Disney has already confirmed that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom, Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure Park, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure at Disney California Adventure Park, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will be part of the new system.

WEB SLINGERS

We are also waiting to find out if the Individual Attraction Selection attraction prices will vary depending on the ride, as is the case at Disneyland Paris. You will want to keep this new idea of surge pricing in mind, especially if you are looking to visit around the holidays or other busy times of the year
