Disney World is FILLED with iconic snacks as beloved as the characters and the rides! 

If you’ve been ’round these parts long, you’ve likely heard of Mickey Pretzels, Cheshire Cat Tails, and Dole Whip, but there’s a whole world of lesser-known snacks waiting to be discovered! 

There’s no question that Disney World is a snacker’s paradise. Between the parks, the resorts, Disney Springs, and the food-filled EPCOT festivals, there are soooo many treats to eat! 

Beyond the familiar favorites, though, we’re willing to bet there are PLENTY of snacks you’ve never heard of — but psst: you totally should!

Taiyaki

We’re used to finding snacks shaped like characters, from Mickey Waffles to Maleficent Cupcakes, but a pastry shaped like a fish? And filled with red bean? Color us intrigued! 

The doughy delight is a not-too-sweet snack at YeSake in Disney Springs, where most folks go for the Pizza Buns. You should totally reel in the Taiyaki for $6— stuffed with sweet red beans and Bavarian Cream — while you’re there! The red bean paste is lightly sweetened and actually really delicious (just get past the whole “bean paste” part if that’s not familiar to you!). The doughy crispy chewy fish it’s baked in makes it a really satisfying treat to chomp down on!

Bourbon Chocolate Chip Cookie

Disney World has become quite the mecca for chocolate chip cookies of late, especially with the arrival of Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs! But here’s a surprise: there’s another chocolate chip cookie sleeper hit in Disney Springs, and it’s got a boozy secret! 

The Polite Pig actually used to serve Gideon’s cookies before they left to open their own shop, but fear not cookie-lovers! The barbecue restaurant started making their own cookies, infusing them with bourbon, and COVERING them with chocolate rock candies! 

Fittingly/hilariously, The Polite Pig renamed their cookie to the Bourbon Chocolate Chip Cookie, and it’s deliciously doughy, with rich sweetness from the chocolate candies, and just a hint of spice from the bourbon, making this one of the most unique sweets in Disney World! It comes and goes off of the menu, but if you see it available grab for one $5!

Tiger Tail Chocolate Twist

The Cheshire Cat Tail is a beloved and renowned snack in Disney World (BTW Cheshire Cafe FINALLY reopened in Magic Kingdom). OK, sp at least WE love it and sing the priases of this delightfully flaky pastry filled with chocolate and drizzled with colorful pink and purple icing! But what most people might not realize is that there’s a VERY similar version in Animal Kingdom! 

The Tiger Tail Chocolate Twist is Animal Kingdom’s exotic twist on Magic Kingdom’s twisty pastry, with the same type of dough and chocolate filling. The only difference? The icing is orange and tiger-striped! (We think you sometimes get a better icing deal with these than the light drizzle often at Cheshire Cafe!) You can order one at Isle of Java for $4.99!

Coffee-Rubbed Rib-eye Beef Puff

If your snacking persuasions skew more savory, you’re gonna wanna try a certain meaty treat at BaseLine Tap House in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The beer bar is already one of our go-to spots for pretzels and charcuterie, but they also serve a super unique snack called the Coffee-Rubbed Rib-eye Beef Puff!

Made with a buttery puff pastry base and filled with cheesy, tender steak, with a waft of fragrant coffee. It’s kinda like a mini, puffy cheesesteak! And it’s the perfect meaty treat for heartier cravings. Grab one for $11!

Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich

If you simply CAN’T decide between savory and sweet, we know just the treat for you in Animal Kingdom! Now that Eight Spoon Cafe has reopened, the inventive cafe has an EPIC menu item called the Pulled Pork Jelly Doughnut Sandwich!

It might sound crazy, but this thing works! Served on a sweet glazed doughnut for $6.99, there’s just something so perfect about the combo of smoky and salty pork, slaw, and sweet fruity jelly! Bring an appetite, though, cause this thing is HEFTY!

Is Animal Kingdom THE Place for Snacks in Disney World Right Now?

When it comes to rolled snacks in Disney World, the Spring Roll Cart in Magic Kingdom pretty much has the market cornered (hence the everpresent line for Cheeseburger Spring Rolls). But there’s another Disney World kiosk that serves a VERY similar item with pretty much zero line! 

We’re talking about the crispy Pork Egg Rolls from Joy of Tea in EPCOT’s China Pavilion! They’ve got the same golden-brown crunch as Magic Kingdom’s spring rolls, but with a deliciously meaty (and perfectly greasy) pork filling! Basic? Sure. Hits the spot? Definitely. Even better, this duo of rolls is easy on the wallet. Order a pair for $4.95!

All The Norwegian Treats Besides School Bread

Speaking of EPCOT, one of the most famed snacks in the park is School Bread at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in the Norway Pavilion, and for good reason! It’s AMAZING! Thick vanilla pastry cream stuffed in a lightly spiced bread dipped in icing and coconut? YES PLZ. We can only imagine how jealous all the other Norwegian pastries are, though, because there’s a LOT more to this bakery than School Bread! 

The next time you’re there, try branching out a little with Norwegian Kringla (a Pretzel-shaped Pastry, $6.29), Troll Horns ($4.49 Puff Pastry filled with Orange Marmalade Cream YUM), Eplekake (an Apple Cake with Caramel Drizzle that tastes like fall in a dessert for $4.49), or Verden’s Beste Kake (Vanilla Cake with Custard and Almond-Meringue Topping, for $4.29). 

Actually, on second thought, maybe toss a School Bread in there too…you know…just to be safe. We don’t want to hurt School Bread’s feelings and have it thinking it’s not still our boo.

EPCOT’s New Rainbow Cake Is Not What It Seems

No offense to the fan-favorite Zebra Domes, but we’ve got our eyes on other sweets at The Mara! The Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurant is a sleeper hit with all kinds of fun sweets, including the SUPER delish Flamingo Cake! 

The kicker here — it’s PLANT-BASED! This is a chocolate spice cake with coconut ganache topped with crunchy bits and a pink-colored chocolate swirl for $4.79. Is it as good as our BELOVED Nyala Brownie? Maybe not. But we love any dessert that’s inspired by flamingos and tastes like Christmastime! This is one of those treats so eye-catching that we constantly want to buy it up when we see it in the case!

A Fan Favorite Breakfast Food Has FINALLY Returned in Disney World!

Andoan Fruit with Muja Sauce

Not ALL snacks have to be super sweet or filled with pulled pork (but, TBH, it sure helps!)! In case your body is crying out for something healthy AND fun, look no further than Ronto Roasters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where they’re serving up fruit cups like you’ve never seen! 

The Andoan Fruit with Muja Sauce is a colorful, exotic medley of Jicama, Cucumber, Pineapple, Melon, and Dragon Fruit doused in Tamarind Sauce and dusted with Peppercorn Ash. This thing is WILD, a little spicy, a little sour, a little sweet, and filled with crunchy, wholesome goodness for $6.99! Now you can happily check off that you ate SOMETHING healthy at Disney World!

Step aside Simba Cupcake, there’s ANOTHER Simba-inspired snack worth trying in Animal Kingdom! As much as we love a lion’s mane of frosting, the Simba Sunset at Tamu Tamu Refreshments might be our favorite Lion King treat in the park!

It’s a refreshing Pineapple Dole Whip with Watermelon, Strawberry, and Coconut-flavored Syrup, giving it a beautiful color and layers of tropical, fruity flavor that honestly gives Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom a run for its money. See for yourself for $5.49! If you’re feeling sassy, you can upgrade for $10 to the King’s Cooler — the same float with a dousing of Parrot Bay Coconut Rum!
