PHOTOS: Space 220 is Officially OPEN in EPCOT — Go Inside With Us!

The day has finally arrived!

We can’t wait!

Space 220 has FINALLY opened its doors (or should we say elevator?) to the public in EPCOT! It seems like we’ve been waiting to hear about the opening day for this new restaurant for lightyears. Ok, maybe that’s a little bit of an exaggeration. But it has been a while. After all, we first found out about this innovative space-themed restaurant back in 2017! The restaurant was supposed to open some time ago, but met with delays. Since then we’ve been gathering all the news we could as we waited for more. And now, SPACE 220 HAS ARRIVED! Here’s what you need to know.

We’ll be sharing a FULL REVIEW of the new dining experience soon, but in the meantime, let’s share a first look at this space.

Check-In

Right now, Space 220 is only allowing walk-ups. Reservations for Space 220 became available today (September 20th), but only for dates starting September 27th and on.

Space 220

Today, we were lucky enough to get an early look at this restaurant as part of a media preview.

During our Media Preview, we got to hear a little bit from Ali Manion, one of the Disney World ambassadors, and other Disney officials.

While we were attending a media preview event, there were PLENTY of guests waiting in the area to get the chance to eat at Space 220 on its opening day!

If you’re trying to get a spot at Space 220, we saw an information desk outside of the restaurant.

When you arrive at the restaurant (which is located right next to Mission: SPACE in EPCOT) you’ll check in to the Space 220 Departure Lounge.

There’ you’ll find some seating so guests can rest while they wait for their reservation to be ready.

There are also check in desks with Cast Members assisting guests.

After you check in, you’ll be given a Space 220 boarding pass!

There are a variety of different boarding passes available.

A Look at the Boarding Passes

Once it’s your turn to dine at Space 220, the real fun begins!

The Space Elevator

When your time to eat at Space 220 arrives, you’ll board the “Space Elevator.”

Time to Go!

This elevator will “transport” you what seems like 220 miles above the Earth (hence the name Space 220!) to the Centauri Space Station.

Here’s another look inside the elevator.

The Space Elevator!

On the elevator, you can look down through the viewport in the floor to see EPCOT shrinking away.

If you look up, you’ll see the space station you’re approaching.

Next, it was time to hear some special details from a Disney Imagineer…

…and head inside the space station!

The Space Station

Once you’ve “traveled” to space, you’ll be able to step off the elevator and into the Centauri Space Station. You’ll walk past some futuristic lettuce (??!!) and into the main dining area.

Hello There Space Lettuce

The dining area is quite expansive. Right away, the view out into space and onto Earth below sets this spot apart from any other restaurant on property.

Seriously, it’s easy to forget you were JUST in EPCOT 2 seconds ago.

We’re In “Space!”

Within the restaurant, there are a variety of tables on different levels of elevation.

Some of the Tables

There are some tables toward the back area on a more elevated platform, so you can still look out and see that amazing view.

Where Would You Like to Sit?

There are also tables on a lower level, some of which are located directly next to some of the windows out into “space.”

Taking a Seat

Throughout your time, you may see a variety of things float past on those windows so be sure to look closely!

What a VIEW!
