REVIEW: Jelly, Boba, Toffee, AND Tea in One Disney World Dessert?! It’s Better Than You’d Think…

Nine Dragons Restaurant in EPCOT’s China Pavilion is a table-service restaurant known for its wide range of Chinese cuisine, with Cantonese, Mongolian, Szechuan, Hunan, and Kiangche-style dishes all being offered here.

Nine Dragons Restaurant

We recently stopped by to try a new 50th Anniversary dessert that’s based on a trendy boba tea drink!

In the past, we’ve had mixed feelings about this restaurant: sometimes we love it and really enjoy its spicy food and delicious dumplings, but other times it’s overshadowed by other EPCOT offerings like the fancier Le Cellier and the more accessible Garden Grill. However, Nine Dragons has been on a hot streak lately, so let’s see if this EPCOT spot can dazzle us again!

Inside Nine Dragons

The Boba Blue Magic, which features House-made Butterfly Pea Flower Ice Cream and Blue Lychee Jelly topped with Creamy Milk Cap, Blueberry Popping Boba, Crunchy Toffee, and a Fortune Cookie, is the new 50th Anniversary treat available for $10.50. Butterfly pea flower tea is a very popular and trendy flavor right now and tastes similar to a calming chamomile tea.

The Boba Blue Magic!

The highlights of this dish were the light and floral flavor of the ice cream, the delicious and crunchy toffee, and the fun fortune cookie on top! We aren’t huge on jelly, so the lychee element of this dish was a bit of a miss for us. We’d recommend this one for people who love jelly and popping boba pearls because of those elements are both pretty prominent in this dish.

Taking a Bite!

Overall, this is a great treat for boba lovers out there! If you love floral desserts, this is a great one for you because the butterfly pea flower and lychee definitely both bring a lot of floral notes. If you don’t like jelly or boba pearls, steer clear! This one is pretty heavy on both.

The Boba Blue Magic has a LOT of Boba Pearls!

If you’re not big on Lychee, Blue Pea Butterfly Tea, or jelly, but still want some Disney boba goodness, there are a few great options. Places like Yesake in Disney SpringsJoy of Tea in EPCOT’s China Pavilion, and Morimoto Asia Street Food in Disney Springs all offer up great boba drinks!

If you want some more of that floral lychee flavor, head over to Lotus Blossom Cafe and try their Lychee Ice Cream! Fair warning: the food there was a little bit on the basic side last time we visited.
