It’s finally November, which in Disney World, means the start of the holiday season!
After Halloween on October 31st, Cast Members worked overnight to transform Magic Kingdom into a Christmas-y wonderland, complete with a gigantic tree, wreaths down Main Street, U.S.A., and so much more. But, it seems that not every spot in Disney World got the holiday memo…because we’re living in a really weird Twilight Zone version of the parks right now!
Confused? Allow us to explain. As of this morning, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are both decked out from top to bottom in full holiday decor (“Mariah Carey Mode,” if you will). However, Animal Kingdom only has a few festive decorations up so far and EPCOT likely won’t go all-in until closer to the start of the Festival of the Holidays at the end of this month.
But here’s where it gets weird — Disney hasn’t completely let go of Halloween yet, either. Many of the gift shops around the parks still have their massive Halloween merchandise displays out — with plenty of items still in stock! Some of those same stores have already decorated for the holidays as well, making the strange amalgamation of Mickey pumpkins and glittery garland a little bit off-putting.
And it doesn’t stop there! Disney’s determined to not entirely skip Thanksgiving this year, so yesterday they dropped even MORE fall-themed snacks for us to try out. Munching on a pumpkin cake pop when the ambiance screams “candy canes and gingerbread” is making our taste buds, and brains, very confused.
On top of that, we’ve started to see 2022 merchandise pop up in the parks as well. Seriously Disney, slow your roll — some people are still trying to cope with the fact that you put up the first holiday decorations in mid-October. It’s not time for the New Year yet!
If you’re as lost as we are, we have a solution. We’ll all just collectively go into The Nightmare Before Christmas mode until Disney decides which holiday it would like to celebrate. Happy New Hallothanksmas everybody! (Technically the holiday season doesn’t “officially” start until November 12th, so we’ll give Disney a grace period to figure it out.)
But don’t worry, even if we start spotting Valentine’s Day snacks in the parks tomorrow, we’ll make sure that you’re up-to-date on all the news! Stay tuned to DFB for every Disney World holiday update!
