FAMILY FUN AT DISNEYLAND

FAMILY FUN AT DISNEYLAND

While Walt Disney World Resort is our usual stomping ground, we decided to switch things up for the last week of October and visit Disneyland Resort in California! This was Jackson’s very first visit to Disneyland, which inspired us to focus our trip on family-friendly attractions and activities. We had an amazing time dining with characters, experiencing whimsical rides, and braving our first little roller coaster as a family! Follow along as we take on all of the magic that Disneyland has to offer for even the smallest of adventurers.

STORYTELLERS CAFE

Our first stop of the day was Storytellers Cafe, which is a charming buffet-style restaurant located in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. This venue celebrates California folklore with its classic storybook theme, and offers Disney character dining for breakfast and brunch. Not long after we were seated, some of our favorite pals made a joyful appearance, including Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto! We found a variety of homestyle breakfast options available at the buffet, and we enjoyed a little bit of everything. The food was yummy, but the best part of this breakfast was the excitement on Jackson’s face as he greeted his Disney friends. We recommend this restaurant for any family with young children!

ALICE IN WONDERLAND

While Disney World and Disneyland share many of the same attractions, there are a few rides than you can only find on the west coast, including one of our personal favorites – Alice in Wonderland! This classic dark ride takes you down an enchanted rabbit hole and into the zany world of Wonderland. This is a great introductory ride for the little ones, as it is made up of gentle turns and colorful theming. Jackson seemed entranced by the ride’s topsy-turvy nature, and we enjoyed seeing him taking in all of the sights around him. We considered it a successful first ride at Disneyland!

GADGET’S GO COASTER

The next ride we encounted was a very special one – Gadgets Go Coaster! This ride was a memorable experience because it was Jackson’s first ever roller coaster! Gadget’s Go Coaster is a kid-friendly thrill that takes guests aboard a train made of acorns and on a race around a winding track. We weren’t completely sure how Jackson would feel about his first fast-paced ride, but he handled it like a champ. Although he seemed a little nervous, he ended up saying he liked it after all. If you have miniature thrill-seekers in your family, this ride serves as a great starter coaster for them. We can’t wait to visit Disneyland again as a family and experience even more excitement!
