We don’t know about you, but we are still SO glad that ‘Ohana is back at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Is any Disney World restaurant more iconic than ‘Ohana? And although we gasped when the menu first appeared sans Noodles, we let out a sigh of relief when Disney World confirmed the Noodles would be returning. (Don’t get us started on this whole noods shortage RN! ‘Ohana keepin’ us on our noodle-toes!) SO, what if you can’t get to ‘Ohana anytime soon but you’re craving those Noods or that Bread Pudding or any of the other yummy dishes you can’t get anywhere else? WE. GOT. YO. BACK. You just need to provide some cooking skillz.
We’ve got ALL the recipes you need to create your own ‘Ohana meal at home! And we’re sure that by the time you’ve gorged yourself on all this food, you’ll feel as stuffed if you had visited ‘Ohana for real! Note that not all of these recipes are on the current menu, but still equate to a lot of yummy food. You WON’T find recipes on here for the grilled meats or potstickers. We worked with the recipes that we had readily available to us. TBH, we recommend just grabbing some frozen potstickers from your grocery store and cooking them up. Many stores sell a mild chili garlic sauce you can toss them in for a pretty nice match.
Mai Tai
If you’re craving a little boozy tropical beverage to start your meal with, the ‘Ohana Mai Tai is JUST what you need. And if you’re feeling a little extra, you can even serve it up Lapu Lapu style by cutting out a pineapple and pour the drink into the empty shell!
Ingredients
- 1 ounce Myers Dark Rum
- 2 ounces orange juice
- 2 ounces pineapple juice
- 2 ounces sour mix
- Dash lime juice
- Dash Orgeat syrup (a sweet syrup made from almonds, sugar, and rose water or orange flower water. Most liquor stores sell it)
Directions
- Combine all ingredients.
- Serve in a chilled glass (or hollowed-out pineapple) with pick-lime/cherry.

Lilikoi Salad
For starters, you’ll want the Lilikoi Salad, which has a yummy passionfruit dressing. The salad at ‘Ohana has seen a few variations over the years, with the current salad dressed in a citrus vinaigrette. Many fans still mourn the loss of the honey-lime salad dressing here. But the Lilikoi (AKA passion fruit) dressing served here for a number of years is just tropical enough to make this stand out.
Dressing Ingredients
- 3 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1/2 small shallot
- 1 small garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon honey
- Pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup canola oil
- 1/3 cup POG juice (Passion fruit, Orange & Guava juices in equal parts)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley
Dressing Directions
- Purée the first eight ingredients in a blender.
- Gradually blend in the oil, then POG juice and parsley
Salad Ingredients
- 6 ounces lettuce (mixed greens)
- 3 ounces Lilikoi dressing
- 2 ounces diced papaya
- 2 ounces Mandarin oranges
Salad Directions
- Combine all ingredients.
- Pour salad dressing over and mix well.

Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
OK this is a hot take — we love these potatoes. Yeah Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes are typically really good (“cheese” and “potatoes” are in the name, so dead giveaway, right?), but these were also the predecessor to the now-adored teriyaki noodles at ‘Ohana. We love the noods. We love the potatoes. We love the potatoes SO much, in fact, we’re sharing an old recipe on how to make them! Now you can have cheesy potatoes AND NOODLES in perfect harmony. SCORE.
Ingredients
- 1 pound potatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
- 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup sweet onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- Place a single layer of potato slices and onion in a buttered shallow dish.
