Price Increases Expected Next Year for Some Popular Snacks

Over the past few months, we’ve seen a variety of price increases and product shortages impact consumers in general, and sometimes even reach as far as the Disney parks.

Earlier this year, we shared a look at a ketchup issue that impacted Disney World for a bit. We also recently shared the news about a potential Coca-Cola product shortage that could impact consumers in general. Now, it seems fans of some very popular snacks might be impacted by price increases in the future.

According to Click Orlando, 2 major food companies — Mondelez and Kraft Heinz — plan to raise prices for some of their items next year.

During a recent earnings call, Mondelez reportedly indicated that it has plans to raise prices next year by 7% on some of its brands, including things like Chips Ahoy, Ritz, and Sour Patch Kids. The CEO of Mondelez has indicated that this price increase is being done to “combat inflation, which he pegs at hitting 6% in 2022.”

Kraft also plans to increase prices on some of its items, but is already “reaping the benefits of charging consumers more.” Kraft recently had “higher than expected profits,” which it reportedly attributes to raising prices on most of its items by 5%. Those price increases are expected to continue.

Click Orlando reports that a grocery distributor has said that they received a letter from Kraft where the company indicates that they plan to raise prices on some Jell-O and pudding items by 16%, and some macaroni and cheese products by 20%. Kraft has reportedly warned that prices on “hundreds of its products will go up next year.”

So, if you’re a big fan of things like Ritz, Oreos, Easy Mac, or other products made by Mondelez and Kraft, be sure to keep these expected price increases into account when making your grocery budgets for 2022.

We’ve seen a number of price increases when it comes to the Disney parks too. Prices have increased on various food items in Disney World. And in 2022, the range of ticket prices hasn’t increased but some days are now in a higher price bracket, meaning your trip in 2022 could be more expensive.

Over in Disneyland, many ticket prices and parking costs have also increased.
