NEWS: A Classic Ride FLOODED in Disneyland

The song might get stuck in your head for the rest of the day, but “it’s a small world” still remains one of Disney’s most classic attractions.

Over at Disneyland Park in California, “it’s a small world” has been under refurbishment. The holiday version of the ride was set to reopen very soon as part of Disneyland’s new holiday event and the start of the holiday season, but it seems things have hit a roadblock.

According to the Orange County Register, Disney was in the process of refilling the flume when flooding occurred. Reportedly, on November 10th, “it’s a small world” experienced flooding that affected the machinery that is used to operate the ride.

This took place when Disneyland was closed to the public. Disney officials have indicated that they realize the closure of “it’s a small world” will be disappointing to guests who look forward to its holiday version. According to the Disneyland officials who spoke with the Orange County Register, Disney has “teams working around the clock to get the attraction open as soon as possible.”

As we mentioned above, each year “it’s a small world” undergoes a transformation (which typically takes weeks) in Disneyland for the holidays. Previously, the holiday version of this ride was set to open on November 11th for the first Disney Merriest Nites holiday event, and then be ready for the start of the holiday season in Disneyland (which begins on November 12th).

Due to the flooding, it appears there will be some delays. The Orange County register notes that no estimated reopening date for the attraction has been announced.

The Disneyland website still indicates that the ride is under refurbishment, and it did not show any operating hours for the dates we checked in November.

But, not all of the holiday fun typically held at this ride is over. According to the Orange County Register, the facade of “it’s a small world” will still get its nightly lighting ceremony. Additionally, the facade will still be used for video projections as part of the “Believe in the Magic” fireworks show.

We’ll be checking out the NEW Merriest Nites event and we’ll let you know all about it. We’ll also be on the lookout for more updates about “it’s a small world.” Be sure to check back with us for more info!
