Many elements have been added to the exterior of TRON Lightcycle / Run in recent weeks. A few days ago, we saw a tall crane return to the construction site of the upcoming Magic Kingdom coaster and it remains in place as work continues.
This is where the coaster will enter the show building after taking a spin beneath the canopy.
The crane seems to be for lifting pieces of the entrance canopy into place.
We saw several crew members on the ground, where a walkway beneath the canopy is being constructed.
The walkway will lead guests from Tomorrowland to the coaster’s entrance.
The coaster itself will then launch from beneath the entrance then circle back around into the show building.
It looks like there are now two white archway pieces at the entrance, in addition to the brown steel pieces that have been there for several months.
Flat spinal paneling is on one edge of the main canopy framework.
Temporary blue netting protects the construction site for now, but we will eventually see the opaque canopy installed.
A white curved piece (on the left of this photo) was waiting installation somewhere.
Crew members in cherry-picker vehicles were working on the spinal section of the canopy framework.
Scaffolding remains on the building beneath the coaster’s entrance.
The crane and canopy entrance are even visible from the Monorail between Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
TRON Lightcycle / Run is expected to open in 2022.
