DISNEY VERY MERRYTIME CRUISE WEEK

DISNEY VERY MERRYTIME CRUISE WEEK

This past week, we decided to celebrate the holidays the tropical way – aboard a Disney Very Merrytime Cruise! We set sail on the Disney Fantasy to explore the Bahamas and Disney’s very own island, Castaway Cay. This trip was extra special because it was the first Very Merrytime Cruise of the year, which means tons of holiday fun for the whole family. Disney Fantasy is one of Disney Cruise Line’s youngest ships, and it has so much to offer; spacious staterooms, swimming pools, uniquely themed restaurants, live entertainment, and more! Embark with us as we experience some of the highlights of our cruise: Castaway Cay, Pirate Night, and Holiday Fireworks!

CASTAWAY CAY

Castaway Cay is Disney’s private, tropical island that is full of watery fun and adventures. This island offers several areas and activities for young children, including Scuttle’s Cove and the Sprung-A-Leak play area, complete with splash pads and fountains. Jackson had a blast here! Of course, there are also excursions for older children and adults to enjoy, such as snorkeling! We found snorkeling to be an incredible experience; we were abe to dive into crystal clear water and spot tropical fish, coral reefs, and “lost” Disney artifacts. The food on the island was a delicious and set up buffet-style, offering homestyle favorites and yummy treats. Before we made our way back to the ship, we hit the Pelican Plunge slides, which were a ton of fun!

PIRATE NIGHT

Once we returned back to the ship, we got ready for Pirate Night and dinner at the Enchanted Garden, which participated in the theme with a pirate-inspired menu and swashbuckling servers. Some of the waitstaff even came to the table and performed pirate songs for us! We found the atmosphere to be so welcoming, lively, and entertaining. The food was great as well! To top it off, we spotted some of our favorite Disney Pals, including Goofy, Chip, and Dale, all decked out in their pirate gear. We always love seeing the characters partake in themed nights.

HOLIDAY FIREWORKS

Fireworks are a staple in every Disney vacation – and cruises are no exception! One of the things that makes Disney stand out from other cruise lines is their fireworks shows, and we were thrilled to get a great spot for one. This was especially fun, because it was Christmas themed! Santa even comes over the speakers and announces them himself, and the entire spectacle is set to holiday music. While not as extensive as park fireworks, this show was still a magical time. We recommend them to any family boarding an upcoming Disney cruise!
