Next year, Disneyland Paris is going to celebrate its 30th Anniversary!

Tons of things have been going on across the pond to get ready for the anniversary! A timeline was announced for the opening of Paris’ Avenger’s Campus, they’re throwing a heck of a holiday celebration right now, and their Cars-themed hotel is up and running! Something else has been cooking at Disneyland Paris, and we just got a video that shows us the behind-the-scenes!
Disneyland Paris just renovated Sleeping Beauty Castle, and it’s a work of art! In this video on the Disneyland Paris YouTube channel, Walt Disney Imagineering’s Tracy Eck describes the process of the castle’s restoration.
The castle is ENTIRELY hand painted and the artisans that were working on the restoration were world class! All of the gold on the castle is from real gold leafs that were placed by hand! Some of the companies that partnered with Disneyland Paris for this renovation focus on restoring historical monuments. “Some of them do consider our castle a historical monument. It’s a part of the heritage. It’s very touching.” says Eck.
