PHOTOS & VIDEOS: Take a Rainy Day Disney World Walk With Us

Florida is home to all kinds of weather, but it’s known for rain. Lots of rain.

It’s a rainy day in Magic Kingdom!

A rainy day in Disney World might seem like a terrible idea but the truth is there are still lots of ways to have fun! Not to mention you get to see how beautiful the parks look on a gloomy day. Come join us and see what we mean!

Today is one of those very rainy days in Disney World, and the ponchos and umbrellas are out in full force. Doesn’t Cinderella Castle look pretty with the gloomy sky?

How do you handle a rainy day in Disney World?

Take a look at how the crowds are handling the rain in Magic Kingdom!

On a rainy Disney World day we recommend bringing items like a waterproof hat, a poncho, waterproof bags, waterproof shoes or extra socks, and a compact umbrella, among other items. While you can buy umbrellas and ponchos in Disney World, you will likely pay a bit more than you would anywhere else. We tested a Disney World rain poncho to see if it’s worth the extra money. Often, rainy days can be a good time to take advantage of smaller crowds! Remember the holiday crowds we’ve been seeing? Today is not nearly as busy, as lots of people typically opt to stay in or do something else on a rainy day.

In fact, rainy days can be an awesome time to visit attractions and rides! Many Disney World rides are indoors (and have indoor queues) so you can stay dry AND you might find shorter wait times too.

At the time of our visit, the Disney Skyliner was still operating! The Skyliner will generally continue to run unless there’s lightning, but your mileage may vary if you visit on a stormy day.

Taking a resort tour on the Monorail during a rainy day is another great way to stay dry and maybe check out some places you don’t normally see! You can stop in various Disney World Resort hotels on the Monorail line without ever stepping outside into the rain. We took advantage of a Monorail ride today to escape the rain!

If you’re still looking for something to do, you could also visit Disney Springs for a restaurant visit, a stop at the AMC Movie Theatre, or to do some shopping! Take a look at some other rainy day Disney World activities from our YouTube.
