The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Marvel Studios and Sony experienced the third highest-grossing opening weekend globally, earning $334.2 million at the international box office alone, posing it to become the highest-grossing film of 2021 worldwide.

The film is on track to be the first film released since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to earn $1 billion, as well as the second-fastest to cross that mark at eleven days, which ties “Avengers: Infinity War.” Only “Avengers: Endgame” has reached $1 billion faster at five days.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” sees the famed web-slinger Peter Parker (Tom Holland) deal with an invasion from the multiverse after a spell cast by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) goes awry, bringing him toe-to-toe with villains like Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Electro (Jamie Foxx), and the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe).
