It’s another exciting week for construction projects in Disney World!
We’re taking a look at the many ongoing projects in Disney World right now, including a look behind the construction walls that currently occupy about half of EPCOT to see just how much longer it might be before we get to see something brand new open up in the park. So, let’s get to it!
Magic Kingdom
Entrance Walkway
We’re starting off our construction tour from the highway in the sky (aka the monorail) at the front of Magic Kingdom where we spotted some painting taking place on the outside walls of Magic Kingdom near the Walt Disney World Railroad train tracks and Tomorrowland.
It looked like the walls had been patched and were awaiting a fresh coat of paint.
EPCOT
World Celebration
And, it’s over to EPCOT we go to get a birds-eye view of all the construction taking place in the center of what is now known as World Celebration (or the former Future World). We were able to check in on the work being done where the new walk-through attraction, Moana: Journey of Water, will be located and it looks like they’re making progress! We could see that new walls were going up in a somewhat circular shape…
…and there are lots of trenches around it. Once complete, guests will enter to explore what Disney has described as a “lush exploration trail” that allows them to “play with magical, living water” through the immersive walk-through attraction. Disney hasn’t shared an update on when this could open though.
The rest of the construction area at the center of the park is mostly dirt still with lots of crews and materials spread out. So, it will likely be some time before we get to experience any of the new attractions coming here.
From the ground, we checked out even more of the construction progress in World Celebration, stopping by to see the progress on the former home of Mouse Gear. This spot could be the location of the new Quick Service restaurant coming to the pavilion, Connections Cafe and Eatery, but Disney has not shared specifics just yet.
So, the center of EPCOT sure does look pretty different right now, and it’s only going to get even more different as construction continues!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Just across the way from work being done on Mouse Gear, progress is also being made on the new indoor roller coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. We’ve been seeing A LOT of changes being made to the exterior of the building and when we passed by recently we noticed that the side of the building closest to the walkway was almost done being painted.
The orange pillars will eventually be painted a darker color as well and you can get a peek at what it will look like by checking out the other side of the building!
Disney has announced that the new attraction will open in Summer 2022, so we’ll likely be seeing even more progress here in the near future!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Restaurantosaurus
In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’ve been bringing you all the latest updates on construction at Restaurantosaurus and this week there was even more! Over at Restaurantosaurus Lounge, the construction walls at the new entrance were removed meaning that the main door has reopened!
The entrance now has a concrete step and the wooden railings have been replaced with metal and painted white. Other construction walls do still remain in the area around the restaurant though.
And, that’s it for this week’s construction update! We’ll be keeping an eye out for more construction walls, project completions, and everything in between so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest!
