This might come as a shock, but it rains in Disney World (pause for audible gasps)!

Rainy day in Disney Springs

Like, it rains a LOT. Even when it’s not hurricane season, it’s always a good idea to come prepared to get wet in Disney World…and not just on Splash Mountain!

Since the weather in Florida is notoriously finicky, we’ve talked at LENGTH about rainhow to be prepared for it, what a severe weather day looks like, and what the forecasts will be in Disney World.

A bit of rain!

Because we always want to have your back and ensure you have the BEST time in Disney World, rain or shine, here are 8 things you will regret NOT having with you when it rains!

Rain Jacket

First things first, a good ol’ fashioned rain jacket or poncho will come in CLUTCH when it starts to rain in Disney World!

HELLO!

Even if all you’ve got is a flimsy little foldable situation, it’ll make a HUGE difference to have an extra water-resistant layer when things get splashy!

Target also has some handy, basic, and affordable ponchos and jackets, like this one and these colorful guys.

For less than $10, you can get a 6-pack of ponchos that should take care of the whole family in those rainy day situations.

Clothes That Dry Quickly

Anyone who’s sat in the front row of Splash Mountain can attest: quick-drying clothes are ESSENTIAL for a comfortable day in Disney World!

You may get wet

Whether from rain or a ride, clothes that dry off fast are ideal. This means avoiding cotton at ALL costs. Cotton is not your friend in Florida. Look for labels that mention water- or moisture-wicking, or even water-resistant. Some sporting and outdoor gear stores have this type of apparel for hiking and camping and it would suit your needs in the wild outdoors of Disney World, as well.

Sealable Bags

Your clothes aren’t the only items that need protection in the rain. In order to keep your most valuable items dry — like wallets and phones — you’re gonna want to seal ‘em up in plastic bags.

Splash Mountain Ziploc

A little Ziploc goes a long way here. They’re SUPER light and easy to shove in a pocket, and they’re quick to wrap around any handheld prized possession in case of a downpour. And these are just handy for protecting valuables. If a child ends up with messy clothing, these little beauties come in handy for keeping that mess isolated away from any other clothing or belongs, once that change of clothing is made. Just seal up the soiled garments in a Ziploc and then you can be much more confident when you tuck it back in your backpack to deal with later.

Rain Cover For Strollers

Speaking of prized possessions, you might want to consider shielding your offspring from the rain.

Cover up those strollers!

We LOVE a good rain cover for strollers, which neatly seal over the tops to prevent your little ones from getting soaked. You can find plenty of options from Target too!

©Target,

This style is $34.99, but you can find one for almost any stroller. These will not only help keep your kiddo dry during a downpour but they should also be secured in place for when you go into an attraction. It’s amazing how those sudden storms can come and go all while you’re waiting for a ride on Pirates of the Caribbean and then you return to a soggy stroller and water-logged snacks. You can have peace of mind with a stroller cover in place while you wait in line, no matter what the outdoor weather does.

Hand Towel

Unless you just LOVE it when your fingers turn to raisins, it’s a good idea to carry around a small hand towel, just in case!

They’re kitchen towels, but you get the gist

You can just keep these in your pocket or bag, so in case your fingers get wet (and possibly cold), you’ll have something warm and dry to recuperate with!

Holiday Towel at Beach Club Marketplace

A basic batch of towels from Amazon could do the trick!

For less than $20, you can have a towel or two handy to wipe hands, wet surfaces, or even a make-shift seat while you wait for the next parade or cavalcade. You’ll be glad to have such a handy little purchase!

Waterproof Shoes

Trust us, there’s no worse feeling then sloshing around through puddles and getting literal cold feet while trying to enjoy your day in Disney World!

We Definitely Got a Little Wet

Proper footwear and rain protection for socks and feet are VITAL for comfort, and we have a few solutions we like to recommend. First, we LOVE us some hiking sandals. You don’t need to worry about socks, they’re comfy, and they dry off quick!

These are less than $30, right now and offer great support, and won’t slide off your feet when you have to walk through a puddle.

Extra Socks

While we’re on the subject of keeping your feet dry, an extra pair of socks is a good idea to carry with you as a backup!

Whether the spare socks you bring are stylish, or practical, you’ll be happy you have them when you step in that deceptively deep puddle (or after an adventure down Kali River Rapids). You can pick up a 4-pack of this moisture control pair from Columbia for $12.99.

Small Umbrella

Listen, it’d be nice if it was feasible to tote a huge golf umbrella around Disney World to completely protect your entire family from a rainstorm, but it’s simply not practical.

This’ll do!

Instead, grab a small umbrella that folds up and can get tucked in a bag or fanny pack. It won’t shield an entire group, but it’ll keep YOU dry (mostly) in case of inclement weather!

You can pick up this Compact Umbrella from Target for only $10.

With these 8 essential wet-weather supplies in your arsenal, you can stay dry and stay in vacation mode, while other guests run for cover or over-spend on pricier Disney options. Save money and stay dry? Sounds like a winning combo!
