Hello and welcome to another Disney news roundup!

This week has been full of updates on everything from Disney’s Magical Express to water parks. Whether you’re heading to Disney World soon or just wondering what’s going on at the Most Magical Place on Earth, we’ve got all the updates you need to know right here!

1 — Magical Express Updates

Disney’s Magical Express will be discontinued in January of 2022, but before the service makes its official departure we’ve got some updates.

First, during this week we saw that Magical Express signs have been starting to disappear at Disney World’s hotels. In their place, we’ve seen new “airport shuttle departures” signs installed.

But the Magical Express isn’t done quite yet. The service was set to be discontinued on January 1st, 2022, but this week we got an update. The last day that Disney’s Magical Express will take guests to their hotels from the airport is December 31st, 2021. But, the last day that Disney’s Magical Express will take guests from their Disney hotels TO the airport will be January 10th, 2022. 

So those planning to use the service during those early days in January to get back to the airport can still take advantage of it for a little bit.

2 — Typhoon Lagoon is Reopening Soon!

In terms of BIG reopening news, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park (which has been closed for a long time) will reopen on January 2nd, 2022!

And the water park won’t just be reopening with the same old treats and sweets as before. New DOLE Whip offerings and more snacks will be available at Typhoon Lagoon when the water park reopens!

DOLE Whip fans can also get excited about the reopening because one of the offerings that will be available at Typhoon Lagoon is the beloved Hei Hei Cone! That’s right folks! This DFB-favorite treat is returning and we couldn’t be more excited!

Other BIG menu changes (including some price increases) have hit Typhoon Lagoon as well. You can click here to learn more about those.

But just as one water park reopens, another will be closing temporarily. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will be closing after January 1st, 2022 for refurbishment. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates on that.

3 — Disney Collectors: Get Ready!!

In the past few years, we’ve gotten some popular merchandise collections like the Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction series and the Stitch Crashes Disney collection. Well, we’ve got big news for those who love merchandise collections — a new series themed to the main mouse himself — Mickey — will be released in 2022!

The Mickey Mouse: The Main Attraction will be a new continuity line released throughout 2022. We don’t have a lot of details just yet, but we have a feeling this merchandise will be very popular so get ready to se those alarms and try to grab this new merch.

4 — COVID-19 Updates

This week we also saw a number of updates regarding COVID-19. To ensure we are equipping you, our readers, with all the information you need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.

This past week, Florida broke certain daily records of new COVID-19 cases with 31,758 new COVID-19 cases. In addition, the COVID-19 testing positivity rate has increased significantly in Central Florida. Then later in the week, Florida broke a single-day record for daily reported cases of COVID-19 again with a total of 46,923 new cases.

Recently the CDC also updated its COVID-19 isolation and quarantine recommendations. According to the updated rules, the recommended time for isolation for those who test positive for COVID-19 and are asymptomatic is now 5 days, down from the previous recommendation of 10 days.

There are other updates and recommendations now in place.

In terms of cruising, Disney Cruise ships and more are currently under CDC investigation due to COVID-19 concerns. Also, the CDC has now indicated that people should “avoid cruise travel.”

When it comes to flying in the United States, no big changes have been made recently but Dr. Anthony Fauci said in an interview this week that vaccine requirements are something that should be seriously considered for domestic flights, according to CNBC.
