Disney World can sometimes experience unexpected closures and problems in the parks, but there are other changes that you can plan for.
We keep an eye on the refurbishments schedule for Disney World, which means we know which rides are scheduled to be closed on certain days. Here’s a report of everything that’s going to be closed in the parks and hotels next week!
Leading out our list for next week is Magic Kingdom, which has one long-lasting closure and a NEW closure for a popular ride.
Magic Kingdom
Splash Mountain
Splash Mountain will close for refurbishments on January 10th, 2022.
It’ll remain closed for a month, reopening on February 10th. This is not the big refurbishment that Disney has announced, which will turn the ride into a Princess and the Frog-themed adventure. We expect that the closure for that re-haul will be much longer than one month.
Instead, Disney’s website states that this closure is just for routine maintenance on the attraction.
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad is still closed in Magic Kingdom. The attraction has been unavailable for a long time, and it does not have a reopening date yet.
The railroad is closed now because of construction in Tomorrowland since crews need to cross over the railroad tracks to work on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster.
We expect the railroad to remain closed until TRON is completed, which could still be a while. Disney hasn’t commented on an opening date for this coaster yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear one.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest is still closed for its refurbishment, which will last for a few more months.
We don’t have an official opening date for this coaster yet, but it’s supposed to open sometime in April 2022.
Recently, we stopped by to check out the construction walls around this area…
…and we noticed that you can still go into the attraction’s gift shop! So if you need to grab some yeti-themed souvenirs, you can still do that even during the closure.
Finding Nemo: The Musical
Finding Nemo: The Musical is also still closed in Animal Kingdom. A reimagined version of this show will return sometime in 2022.
The classic show will get a few major changes. It is now going to be based on the timeline from Finding Dory, although it will keep some fan-favorite songs from the original show.

EPCOT
Souk-al-Magreb
The Souk-al-Magreb gift shop in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase is still closed right now, and it will remain closed through all of January.
This gift shop is scheduled to reopen on February 6th, 2022.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid show is still closed in Hollywood Studios, and it doesn’t have a reopening date yet.
The nighttime show Fantasmic! is also still not open yet. This show is scheduled to return in 2022 with some changes.
We’ll keep an eye out for those return dates and let you know as soon as we hear!

Disney World Hotels
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
The only Disney World hotel that is still closed right now is Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. This hotel is reopening on March 31st, 2022.
If you’re hoping to stay at All-Star Sports, you can book your reservations now.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Some of the DVC Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa are closed right now for a few refurbishments.
Disney is adding new pull-out beds to these rooms so that more guests can fit into the rooms.

Disney World Hotel Pool Closures
A couple of pools at Disney World hotels are closed as well.
Flippin’ Fins Pool
The Flippin’ Fins Pool (in the Little Mermaid section of the resort) at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will be closed from early January through late February.
In the meantime, guests can use the Big Blue Pool (in the Finding Nemo section of the resort) or the Cozy Cone Pool (in the Cars section of the resort), which will both remain open.
Samawati Springs Pool
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Samawati Springs Pool (at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village) will be closed from January 2022 through April 2022.
Guests at the Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village can head over to the Jambo House area to use the Uzima Springs Pool.
