Disney World is Asking Guests About Health and Safety, Crowds, and More in New Surveys

Disney World has seen a lot of changes over the past couple years when it comes to how the parks operate.

Mask Signage

Character meet and greets weren’t available for a long time (and now that they’re back, they’re modified), we’ve seen a variety of health and safety measures like temperature screenings and face mask requirements, and crowd capacity was being limited after the parks reopened in July of 2020. Some changes remain in place, while other things are back to normal, but Disney seems to be looking for some feedback on what should happen next in the parks.

After a recent visit to Hollywood Studios, we received a survey in our email from Disney asking about our experience. The survey had many questions, some of which focused on things like character meet and greets.

One question was on how we felt about waiting in line to meet characters. Then, we could respond saying we would only be willing to wait to see a character in an indoor line, outdoor line, both, or neither, as well as the option of not wanted to meet a character at all.

Another question we got in the survey was asking about meeting Mickey Mouse and if we expected to be able to hug him if we met him at a character sighting. Disney could be trying to get a feel for how comfortable guests are with the idea of being able to actually hug and closely interact with characters again.

Hi, Mickey!

Then, we were asked about our feelings toward character dining. Character dining has been limited since Disney World reopened, and the experience is still modified, but you can now get up from your seat and take pictures with characters, as long as you remain distanced. Could this question mean we could see more character dining coming soon?

Next, the survey asked about health and safety procedures in Hollywood Studios. It lists what procedures are currently in place, and then asked if we thought this bundle of procedures was the right amount, too much, or too little. Disney seems to be trying to determine how the majority of guests feel about their safety in the parks right now.

Another issue addressed in the survey was crowds. Hollywood Studios can get very crowded due to the popularity of Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land, so Disney wanted to know if we found it difficult to move around in the park. They asked us at what time in the day we felt it was too crowded.

They also went on to ask how often we felt like it was too crowded to move around in the park, with the answers varying from rarely to the entire visit. This could possibly be trying to gauge current capacity limits in the parks and how that relates to guest experience.

Then, Disney wanted to know about Genie, their new planning program, and Genie+, the system that has replaced FastPass+. They asked us if we used it during our trip to the park and then asked us why or why not.

The questions on the survey give a small look into what Disney is considering when they make changes in the parks and what they’re concerned about when it comes to guest experience. It will be interesting to see if any changes come to the parks soon, and what the changes would be. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news and info.
