A new series of murals featuring characters and icons from the past 50 years of Walt Disney World has debuted as part of the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.
The series is called “Drawing on Inspiration: Celebrating 50 Years of Magic” and can be found on construction walls near the center of the park.
Each mural is by a different Walt Disney Imagineer.
This mural by Imagineer Mike Quinn.
It features Figment surrounded by other characters from the history of Walt Disney World, including SMRT-1 from Communicore and Orange Bird from Adventureland.
Information from the artist can be found next to each mural.
Next up is a mural inspired specifically by The Haunted Mansion.
Characters from the mansion are gathered around a 50th anniversary birthday cake.
This work is by Will Martinez.
Xiao Qing Chen created this beautiful piece featuring Cinderella Castle popping out of a storybook.
Cinderella in her carriage and Prince Charming are visible at the front of the castle.
Fairies surround the storybook.
Allie Wong and Stephanie Jazmines created this mural showcasing Cinderella Castle as well as Spaceship Earth, the Monorail, Pandora, and more.
Fireworks explode at the top of the mural.
Other park icons can be seen in the distant background of the mural.
This mural by Brittany Smith celebrates 50 years of family.
Smith is a Production Designer who cares for audio-animatronics at Walt Disney World, so the mural features some of her favorites, including Donald from the Gran Fiesta Tour in the center.
Sorcerer Mickey is next to Donald, holding a 50th birthday cake. Fireworks are going off in the corner of the mural.
Other characters include the opera ghost from The Haunted Mansion, Redd from Pirates of the Caribbean, and Country Bears.
Finally, this comic-like mural is by Jessica Hillis.
Each panel showcases a different Disney memory.
