Red Wine-Braised Beef Short Rib with Parsnip Purée, Broccolini, Baby Tomatoes and Aged Balsamic – $8.25
The meat was extremely tender; we didn’t even need a knife. The parsnip puree added another great layer to this well-plated and hefty dish. Ours came with two pieces of the short rib, simple enough to split with a friend or loved one. Recommended.
*NEW* Wild Boar Cassoulet with Duck Confit, Ham Hock, and Wild Boar Sausage – $9.00
This was a little “gamey” but enjoyable. The sausage has a nice smokey flavor, well complemented by the beans and tomatoes underneath. It’s worth a try if you’ve never had boar.
Opera Cake: Almond Joconde, Coffee Buttercream and Chocolate Ganache – $4.75
The reoccurring theme of the event is the desserts tasting like prepackaged Little Debbie treats. This was more of the same. It’s sizable, takes a good picture, and has a light coffee flavor, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired. The cake itself is a little hard and dry, and the icing on top came off in a single sheet when we’d tried to cut it. This is one off-key opera cake.
3 Daughters Brewing Rosé Hard Cider, St. Petersburg, FL (7.0% ABV) – $5.00 for 6 oz., $9.00 for 12 oz.
From 3 Daughters Brewing on Untappd: “Our Rosé Cider is light pink in color with hints of berry and citrus. It is refreshing yet crisp for the perfect Florida drink. Naturally Gluten Free.”
*NEW* 81Bay Brewing Rosé Blonde Ale, Tampa, FL (5.4% ABV) – $5.00 for 6 oz., $9.00 for 12 oz.
81Bay Brewing Co. describes their Rosé Blonde Ale as being made with “strawberry and hibiscus.”
Frozen Rosé – $6.50
Frozen Rosé is becoming increasingly popular at these festivals, so here’s the obligatory offering this time around.
*NEW* Marietta Old Vine Rosé, California ($15/bottle) – $5.00
From Marietta Cellars: “Our at-the-ready California rosé is a saturation of summer watermelon savored right down to the rind. Electric pink in the glass, this Grenache-Syrah blend is full of warm wild strawberries, tart pink grapefruit, and just a dash of pink peppercorn. Satisfyingly fresh and vibrant, with a dry, mouthwatering finish, this is just the right wine for when food is served, when friends gather, or for a perfect quiet view.”
