NEWS: Here’s How Bad Weather Could Impact Your Trip To Disney World Today

Although Florida is “The Sunshine State,” it still often sees its share of bad weather. Not only do thunderstorms seem to come out of nowhere (and disappear just as fast), but occasionally, severe weather can be an issue.

It’s a rainy day at EPCOT

That’s why it’s important to always be weather aware if you’re planning on making a trip to Disney World. And today is one of those days you’ll need to check the forecast often if you’re headed to the parks (especially if you have plans to ride an attraction that will shut down due to weather).

This morning, the National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement for the Orlando area, including Disney World, due to a threat of high winds and the potential for hail — that statement has since expired. However, according to Weather.com, there is also a Wind Advisory in effect for the area until 7PM EST.

According to Fox35, there was also a Tornado Warning for the area this morning that has since expired,  But that doesn’t mean that Disney World is out of the woods just yet. Rain and the potential for high winds are expected throughout most of the morning. And we are certainly seeing a rainy day at Disney World.

Rain at Magic Kingdom Today

As previously mentioned, rain and winds could affect what rides are open to guests, and if it continues into the evening hours, it could delay or even cancel some nighttime entertainment, including the Disney Enchantment fireworks show, as well as EPCOT’s Harmonious.

Rainy day at Hollywood Studios

We recommend keeping an eye on the My Disney Experience app for ride closures, as well as staying updated on the weather throughout the day and adjusting your plans accordingly.

Luckily, the PeopleMover is still open, and we got to take a rainy day ride on the beloved Tomorrowland attraction!

If you’re headed to the parks, bring rain gear because you’re going to need it!

This bad weather could also affect operations at the Orlando International Airport, so keep that in mind if you’re flying into or out of the airport today. The airport reminded guests this morning on Twitter that the bad weather could affect flights, as well as baggage delivery. So be sure to keep updated on your flight’s status with your airline.

We’ll keep an eye on the conditions and let you know if and when it affects Disney World, so stay tuned for more updates!
