Hey there, hi there, ho there! We headed down to the Disneyland Resort to see how the resort is faring now that the Holidays are over and the decorations are starting to come down. Come along with us as we see the best of the best at the Disneyland Resort.
It was a very crowded day at the parks today, so we opted to skip the massive security line at the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure and instead, we headed to Downtown Disney first.
Downtown Disney
First off, we noticed a brand new mural on the corner of the former ESPN Zone. This one is celebrating Lunar New Year, which is on Tuesday, February 2, 2022. The celebrations officially start on January 21 at Disney California Adventure, but we’re already starting to see the first signs in the park and in Downtown Disney.
There are a bunch of Grogu caramel apples today at Marceline’s Confectionery. We’ve seen them run out on other days, but there’s always more the next morning.
The Christmas tree has come down in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. While we’re sad to see it go, the aesthetic of this hotel is so beautiful that we’re glad to have the full sightlines back.
We found tons of new apparel, from these princess-themed shirts in The Disney Dress Shop in Downtown Disney, to some new Mickey apparel in the Emporium.
Disneyland
We also caught a couple of new Spirit Jersey hoodies featuring Maui from “Moana” and Baymax from “Big Hero 6” pictured above.
The characters were out today without their holiday outfits for the first time in months.
Though the holiday celebrations have officially ended, there are a lot of decorations to take down and moving the Christmas tree on Main Street, U.S.A. is no simple task. It will likely be gone within a week.
We took a flight over to Batuu and were taken into custody by the First Order. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is always one of our favorites and it’s nice to see all the effects working at once.
Our secret mission for the Resistance really got our appetite rolling. We stopped by Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo to try the new Dewback Chili Noodles. Take a look at our full review here.
Such a delicious lunch deserves a sweet dessert, so we came down to the original home of Star Wars in Disneyland — Tomorrowland. The Pistachio Cherry Chocolate Parfait from Tomorrowland Terrace is clearly themed to Boba Fett, even if the menu doesn’t say it. Take a look at our full review right here.
It looks like Mr. Toad has taken an interest in aeroplanes and crashed through the roof. Scrim and scaffolding has been erected around some of the spires and chimneys of Toad Hall.
Though the Holidays are over, “it’s a small world” Holiday is still sailing with the yule-tide for delighted guests.
Fantasyland Theatre has walls erected around the perimeter as work is begun. Finally! The theatre has been dark since the COVID-19 closure. Disney announced in October 2020 that “Mickey and the Magical Map,” which was the show in the Fantasyland Theatre, would not be returning at all. And all this time, the sets and dressings for the show have hung on the dark stage. It’s nice to see that, hopefully, this show can finally be put to rest and find peace.
Mickey’s sorcerer hat still hangs over the stage in a solemn reminder of what once was.
Toontown construction plows on as Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is taking shape.
The spire of the El CapiTOON Theatre is rising above the future entrance of the ride.
Disney California Adventure
We spotted this super cool new Spirit Jersey featuring the Star Wars opening crawl and the pre-credit tagline across the back.
And just in time to be late for the Christmas tree, this Grogu ornament is just as cute hanging from a light.
And while we were in Elias & Co., we spotted this really fun Mickey wallpaper. It’s not new, but it’s one of those little touches that keep you noticing new things visit after visit and helps keep the magic alive.
The Festival of Holidays food booths have all been removed already.
And in Radiator Springs, a lot of the decorations have already been removed including the radial tire wreaths that hung across the street lights.
Cruz Ramirez was out greeting guests. It’s been a minute since we’ve crossed her path.
We pulled in to the Cozy Cone Motel to try a new specialty churro — Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake Churros are available now, and you can read our full review here.
And in another sign of the approaching Lunar New Year celebrations, we found the whole collection of themed merchandise here at the festival booth. Take a look at everything we found right here.
With the holidays over and the Hawkeye show on Disney+ finished, Black Widow has begun her show on Avengers Compound once again.
And what a beautiful view at night.
After hearing about the alert to help save Avengers Campus, we had to go help Spider-Man stop some Spider Bots from escaping.
And while we were in the neighborhood, we stopped in to check on Cosmo, the fuzzy friend of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
As we were escaping with the Guardians, we spotted a new Captain America purse from Danielle Nicole in The Collector’s Warehouse.
With the park closing earlier now, we headed out to the hotel for dinner. Napa Rose is one of the finest restaurants in all of Disneyland and we were very pleased with our whole experience.
Just a phenomenal dinner, with impeccable service from all the Cast Members. Like many businesses, they are feeling the staff shortages that COVID-19 brings and every single Cast Member is giving their all to keep the highest level of service despite the challenges. We extend our thanks to the Napa Rose staff, and to all of the Cast Members in all the parks around the world who are keeping the magic alive in these challenging times.
Thanks for riding along with us on this photo report. We’ll see ya real soon!
