It’s 2022 now, and a lot of things have returned to pre-pandemic normal in Disney World.

Almost all of the Disney World hotels are open now (and the last one is returning at the end of March), and most dining locations are also open again. We’re still waiting for a few more things to return, like some of the restaurants and shows around the parks. We’re really missing a few fan-favorite productions, but good news: a lot of Disney World entertainment is coming back soon! Here’s a look at ALL of the entertainment that’s coming back to Disney World this year.

None of the entertainment listed here has a single set date, Disney has confirmed that all of it will be returning sometime in 2022. 

Some of the entertainment is coming back just like it was before the pandemic, and other shows will have a few changes. Let’s dive in!

Magic Kingdom

Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade

A brand NEW cavalcade (a mini-parade) is coming to Magic Kingdom: the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade.

It’s going to open sometime in early 2022, and when it debuts the cavalcade will begin over in Frontierland, move through Liberty Square, and then go down Main Street, U.S.A..

We already have some details about which friends you’ll be able to see, including Nick and Judy from Zootopia, Baloo and King Louie from The Jungle Book, José Carioca and Panchito from The Three Caballeros, Miguel from Coco, Merida from Brave, Moana, the Incredibles, and more!

Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade

In more BIG Magic Kingdom news, a full parade is returning soon! The Festival of Fantasy parade is scheduled to return sometime in early 2022.

This parade is full of Disney characters like Rapunzel and the Snuggly Duckling crew from Tangled, Merida from Brave, friends from Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid, and more!

And of course, the grand finale is a steampunk-style Maleficent dragon that actually breathes fire.

We’re very excited to see this parade again, and we’re already preparing to have the music stuck in our heads all day.

Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire

We’ve been missing the stage shows that take place in front of the Cinderella Castle. There’s just nothing like seeing your favorite Disney friends in that iconic setting! Although there have been a couple of stage shows recently, we haven’t seen a consistent show in this spot during normal park hours in a while.

But in 2022, there will be a new and updated stage show coming to the Cinderella Castle Stage!

Before the shutdown in 2020, this show was called Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire, and we’re expecting a similar style to that one with a few changes.

From the concept art we’ve seen so far, it looks like classic characters and some Disney princesses will be there to welcome guests to Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Fantasmic!

One of the most highly anticipated returns is Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is a big show that includes a lot of Disney characters and an exciting storyline featuring none other than Sorcerer Mickey.

Disney announced that Fantasmic! will return in 2022, and it’ll have a few changes when it does. All we know so far about the changes is that an entire scene is going to be replaced with new characters, stunt performers, new animation, and more! 

We’ve been keeping a close eye on the construction going on over at the Fantasmic! amphitheater and we’ve also noticed that the show got a makeover in the My Disney Experience app.

A lot of guests are excited to welcome back this beloved show, and we’re definitely looking forward to checking out the changes, too.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!

Finding Nemo: The Musical is a show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom that uses amazing puppets to tell the story of Finding Nemo. This spot has been closed for a while now, but it’s going to return in 2022.

When it does return, the show won’t be exactly like you remember it. Disney announced that this production will be reimagined with a new storyline based on Finding Dory — the sequel to Finding Nemo — and the setting will be the Marine Life Institute from that movie. The new show is called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!

But if you love the original show, don’t worry! Some of the fan-favorite songs (like “In the Big Blue World” and “Go With the Flow”) will be making the transition and appearing in the new show.

We’re just keeping our fingers crossed that there will be an adorable baby Dory puppet.
