Review: A Mickey Hot Dog Bun and Vodka Creamsicle?! This Disneyland Spot Has ‘Em Both!

It’s time to celebrate Lunar New Year at Disneyland Resort!

Lunar New Year Festival

From January 21 through February 13, 2022, Disney California Adventure will ring in the Year of the Tiger with additional cuisine and entertainment offerings, including some special Disney Character sightings! We’re LIVE at the park today to check out all of the food, so come along with us as we visit the returning booth Prosperity Bao & Buns!

Menu

Prosperity Bao & Buns is one of the 4 special booths at DCA for the celebration. It’s located right by The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure in Paradise Gardens Park.

Prosperity Bao & Buns

Prosperity Bao & Buns has had some delicious offerings in the past, and some of them are back this year, like the Char Siu BBQ Pork Bao and the Mickey Chinese Hot Dog Bun!

But, are these items as good as we remember from previous festivals? Let’s find out!

Food

For food, we got the beloved Mickey Chinese Hot Dog Bun! This is a Brioche-style Mickey-shaped bun stuffed with hot dog and finished with sesame seeds and scallions for $7.

So fun!

This is not your typical hot dog dish, guys!

The bun is really good — it’s flakey and lighter than a normal hot dog bun.

The hot dogs do taste just like the ones you can probably buy at the grocery store, but they’re good!

A look at the bun and dogs

Just watch out, because the dogs easily fall out of the bun while you’re eating it! This is a fun item that looks cute in pictures, but it’s probably not the most unique or tasty thing you can get during Lunar New Year.

Be careful!

There is also a Char Siu BBQ Pork Bao at this booth! This has Char Siu BBQ Pork with pickled red onions and jalapeño for $8. Just be aware — this one has some heat!

Now, let’s have some drinks!

Drinks

For drinks, we first grabbed the Prosperous Tiger, which is Vodka, cream of coconut, bitters, triple sec, mandarin purée, and vanilla bean paste for $15.

Very photogenic!

This drink tastes like a vodka creamsicle to us!

The coconut and orange flavors are both really strong. The citrus helps cut through some of the sweetness!

So orange

The vodka flavor isn’t that prominent, but you can definitely taste that it’s in here. Overall, it was very yummy!

Next, we got the Lychee Celebration, which is Gin, prosecco, lychee purée, lychee syrup, grapefruit juice, and yuja for $14.

The flower adds some nice color

This drink was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.

It’s super light and refreshing, and a little on the sweet side, but the gin balances it out!

Gorgeous

The Prosecco adds some nice bubbles, which we appreciate on a warm day. There is a bit of a syrupy finish to the drink, but once we stirred it up, that was gone — so make sure to stir!

This was our favorite!

This location also carries a Panda Pool Party Bamboo Lager from Brewery X for $13 and you can get the Lotus Flower Glow Cube here as well for $5.50.

Overall

Overall, this is a fun booth! The food is decent, but we would say that the drinks really shine here — they’re pretty unique and definitely refreshing. Plus, they’re beautiful, so you could also get some great pics from these drinks! Stay tuned to DFB as we check out all of the celebrations for the Lunar New Year at California Adventure.
