A trip to Disney World is fun, magical, full of delicious eats and drinks (at least if your anything like us), and more. But, it’s also downright expensive.

Welcome to the most magical (and expensive) place on earth!

In fact, seeing the final price tag on a Disney vacation might make your jaw drop, and we don’t blame you. But, that’s why it’s so important to us that we help YOU save as much money as possible with Disney deals and discounts! By paying attention to the little details when you’re planning your trip, you can end up saving HUNDREDS of dollars, so here’s how to make sure you don’t miss a single way to save!

Check the Disney Discounts Page Often

One of the easiest ways to see how you can save on your Disney World vacation (that most people miss) is by going to Disney’s website! Disney introduces new discounts ALL. THE. TIME. but if you aren’t paying attention and checking the website often, you could miss out on the deals.

EPCOT

Lucky for you though, you can keep up with DFB to make sure you don’t miss ANY of the latest and greatest special offers.

Whenever Disney introduces a new chance at savings, we make sure that it goes out in the DFB Newsletter — straight to your email. That way you don’t miss out on a single penny of savings.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

While you can always trust us to be the FIRST to get you the latest discounts (seriously, we check DAILY), you can also check out that Disney World special offers page for yourself! Generally, Disney offers special savings on select hotels and tickets — you just have to be visiting at the right time. Hotel-only deals are typically the bigger discounts, but you should compare to see what’s right for you!

For example, in 2022 Disney is offering savings of up to $100 off PER NIGHT at certain hotels between March and July. So, depending on how long you’re staying you can really rack up the savings!

Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Plus, if you’re a part of affinity groups (AAA, the military, etc.), you’ll likely be able to find might find special deals on hotels AND tickets all year long! You’ll just need to call Disney to learn more.

Main Street Railroad Station

Already booked your trip and spot a new discount that would’ve helped you save some cash? No worries! You can call Disney World Guest Services and have those discounts applied after the fact so that you don’t miss out. Or, if Disney isn’t able to apply the discount to your previously booked trip, you can cancel and rebook your trip with the new discount with no penalty (as long as you aren’t within 30 days of the beginning of your vacation). Just keep in mind that there’s no guarantee that the same hotel will be available when you rebook so we’d suggest checking before you make any changes.

If you’re really looking to save without having to refresh Disney’s website on the daily, it might be a good idea to hire a travel agent. Travel agents, like our friends at Small World Vacations, are in the business of helping YOU plan the best vacation possible within your budget.

Don’t Miss Out on Annual Pass/Disney Vacation Club Discounts

This next one only applies to those of you who are Disney World Annual Passholders or members of the Disney Vacation Club (DVC), but we couldn’t go without mentioning it. If you’re a part of these groups, DO NOT forget to look into special discounts that Disney has just for you!

Disney World Annual Pass

Throughout the year, Annual Passholders and DVC Members can save on merchandise (usually up to 20% off), dining, ticketed events (like Disney’s Halloween and holiday after hours events), and more! PLUS, we’ve even seen Disney release exclusive Annual Passholder hotel offers for 2022 that can save you hundreds on your weekend getaway.

If you’re not sure whether you have a discount, ASK! It’s always better to be safe rather than miss out on savings.

Visit During Slower Times of the Year

It can also pay off (literally) to plan your vacation during the slower times of the year. Yes, Disney World almost always feels busy with travel demand still on the rise since the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic, but there are still times when the parks aren’t filled to the brim. And, aside from being able to find lower wait times and face fewer crowds, you also can score some extra savings!

No Crowds

When you’re deciding your travel dates, you might want to consider visiting in January or February. These months tend to have lower demand, meaning that park tickets and hotels are at their lowest price points. Plus, Disney tends to dish out more opportunities for savings to try to bring people in during these times.

Use a Rewards Card to Net Savings

This next one doesn’t apply to everyone, but it can still be a solid way to save on your Disney World trip. The Disney Visa Card is a credit card that gives you rewards points that turn into free Disney money along with some Disney discounts both online and in the parks.

Disney VISA

Now, we’re not saying that you should go ahead and open up a whole new line of credit just to save a few bucks on your Disney trip, but if you are in a place that a new credit card makes sense AND you travel to Disney a lot, the Disney Visa Card could be worth looking into! If not that card, many airline mile-based cards could lot you even bigger savings specifically on your flights.

Check for Third-Party Discounts

And finally, you want to keep an eye out for third-party discounts. Disney partners with a number of companies that might offer special deals — not to mention the third-party businesses that operate within Disney World too!

EPCOT

For example, if you’re a member of a big box store like Sam’s Club, Costco, or BJ’s, you might spot discounted tickets for sale! This tends to be more true in states that are closer to Disney World, but it’s worth checking to see if you could end up paying LESS for your Disney days this way. These spots also may offer discounts on Disney Gift Cards or even restaurants that are located in Disney Springs. And, if you’re able to snag these gift cards when you see them, you’re buying money for your vacation for LESS than paying cash — pretty sneaky!

Gift Cards

In some cases, your place of work might offer a corporate discount or even access to lounges that offer free snacks, drinks, and/or happy hours in Disney World. If you know that your company has perks with other businesses, check to see if some of those might apply in Disney. This can also be a great way to get discounts on Good Neighbor hotels (which offer many of the same perks as staying at a Disney World hotel for half the cost)!

Speaking of Good Neighbor hotels, you might consider looking into chain-wide discounts. For instance, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels are run by Marriott and sometimes have special discounts. Plus, if you’re a Marriott Rewards Member, then you can use your Marriott points to stay here making your hotel kinda, sorta FREE!

T-Rex

There are also smaller third-party discounts to be found, as many of the dining locations in Disney World (especially those in Disney Springs) are not run by Disney and might offer surprising discounts at times. We recommend following these spots like The Polite Pig, Homecomin’, and more on social media to catch the latest deals and events. And, if you join the Landry’s Select Club, you can even get discounts on multiple spots including T-Rex, Rainforest Cafe, and Yak & Yeti.
