Getting to the Disney parks requires a lot of preparation, planning, and expense. But did you know that there are some areas inside the parks that are even more difficult to get to?

Club 33 in Disneyland and Disney World and the 1901 Lounge at Disney California Adventure are some of these exclusive, members-only areas. Now, Disney is giving a full makeover to another members-only lounge, which will be reserved for Disneyland Magic Key Passholders.

Magic Key Terrace (located in Disney California Adventure) is currently being renovated to become a “hacienda hideaway,” according to the Orange County Register. This space is currently open to Magic Key holders, and parts of it will remain open throughout the refurbishment process. The renovations are expected to be complete in late Spring 2022.

The OC Register quoted Disney Imagineer Kim Irvine with more information about this project. Irvine said, “When we started our Magic Key program, the park decided that it would be a really great thing to have a location for [the Magic Key holders] that they could call their own, kind of like Club 33 has their own location.” This lounge won’t have quite the same level of service as the famous Club 33 locations, but it will be a members-only area to relax and chat during a busy Disney day.

There will be new furniture, lighting, draperies, stained glass windows, tile work, and murals in this space. The new theme is centered around a backstory that Imagineers created. The story is about “a beautiful hacienda recently purchased by a young couple that wants to keep the charm of the old place while adding some comfortable contemporary touches.”

A couple of animal mascots will also feature prominently, including a peacock and the fan-favorite Disneyland cat who often visits this location, Nutmeg.

The adobe walls and Spanish architectural style will remain, with new additions to bring more color into the space. There will be a wall fountain, floor-to-ceiling drapes, vines, palm trees, and wrought iron lighting fixtures. Imagineering illustrator Leslee Turnbull (who also created artwork for Club 33 in Disneyland) painted a new mural for the space. It depicts “an early California hacienda sitting on a big lake with swans and peacocks.”

You’ll find high-top tables along arched windows in the covered lounge space, which looks out on the park with views of parades and shows. There will be lounge chairs and tables on the uncovered terrace, which will be accented with blue, turquoise, and green cushions. The changes are meant to create a more relaxing and luxurious atmosphere for Magic Key Holders.
