Have you ever been walking around Animal Kingdom and thought “I wish I had a comfy seat in the AC and a nice cocktail right about now?” If you have, you gotta head over to Nomad Lounge!
Nomad Lounge bar
Nomad Lounge is connected to Tiffins on Discovery Island (right before you walk down toward Pandora) and is a first come, first served bar and lounge. The inside has large lounge chairs and a big bar and the outside has a really nice deck in the shade where you can feel like you’re in an oasis. This is one of our favorite spots to chill, have a drink, and some snacks! They have some of the best churros in Disney, delicious drinks, and some fun limited time menu offerings. And, today is a good day, because there’s a NEW dessert over at Nomad Lounge, so come with us to check it out!
Nomad Lounge just introduced Mandazi to the menu, which is a fried dough tart that is believed to have originated on the Swahili Coast of Africa. It’s sort of like a beignet!
New dessert alert!
At Nomad, you can get an order of 3 for $10 and they come dusted in powdered sugar and with two dipping sauces — bourbon praline caramel and a coffee creme. They’re also served hot!
Little pillows of goodness
These were pretty good! They were a little crispy on the outside and the inside is hollow. They aren’t completely coated in powdered sugar like the beignets over at Port Orleans French Quarter.

The caramel sauce was our favorite with this dessert. It’s super sweet and the bourbon adds a great richness to the sauce! The coffee cream was okay, it was just a bit too heavy for us and tastes a bit like artificial coffee flavoring.

We do wish these would be served with something like a fruit sauce as a contrast to the Mandazi. If you want something fruity to accompany this dessert, you could also order the churros here and use the chili-strawberry sauce it comes with!

If you like beignets, you should enjoy these! They’re a nice light dessert or snack to have while you hang out at Nomad Lounge. But, if you only get one dessert while at Nomad, we still think the churros are the winner here! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney food news and reviews.
