NEWS: Over 100 Flights Canceled at Orlando International Airport Due to Winter Storm

Many people in the US are currently preparing for (or in the midst of) a huge winter storm that is expected to stretch from New Mexico up to Maine.

Dear Elsa, the cold is starting to bother us

This storm has already affected transportation in several areas, and some cities are planning an increase in safety protocols, such as Louisville, KY, which has closed all government offices today (Thursday, February 3rd). So how could this storm affect your Disney World vacation plans? Let’s take a look.

Currently, the Orlando International Airport has already canceled more than 100 flights and has many additional delays, according to ClickOrlando.

The winter storm stretching across America is bringing “rain, freezing rain, and snow to the central United States,” which has prompted several airlines to cancel thousands of flights.

The storm began late on Tuesday, February 1st, and has continued through this morning (February 3rd). Some of the areas that are expected to receive the most snowfall include Central Illinois and northern Indiana. These areas are expected to receive from 12 to 18 inches of snow by the end of Thursday (ClickOrlando).

Several areas are also experiencing power outages due to the storm. Texas has reported more than 46,000 outages, and Oklahoma reported over 17,000.

Airlines across the US have canceled almost 8,000 flights that were scheduled for yesterday or today (Thursday, February 3rd). Airports in St. Louis, Detroit, Kansas City, Chicago, and Dallas-Fort Worth have experienced some of the most cancelations so far. If you are traveling from or through these airports on your way to Orlando, you may want to double-check your flight to make sure it isn’t delayed or canceled.
