What’s New in EPCOT: A Bean Throwing Festival and a Bald Rapunzel

Which Disney World park can you find a spaceship, a troll, and an aquarium all in? EPCOT, of course!

We love him

It’s an exciting time in EPCOT right now with Festival of the Arts, new restaurants, upcoming rides, and the super gorgeous Spaceship Earth lighting up at night. We’re in the park regularly to keep up with what’s going on, so let’s take a look at what’s new in EPCOT!

EPCOT Construction Updates

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Construction continues on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in World Discovery! We recently saw the Nova Corps space ship be put up in front of the ride building, and when we went by the other day there was a ladder coming out of the ship.

What’s going on up there?!

There was also work being done on the side of the ride building!

Working away

It looked like they were doing some painting.

EPCOT Merchandise Updates

Creations

We spotted a new Boba Fett magnet in Creations! This guy is $14.99.

This is the way

We also found this fun pin set of Tweedledee and Tweedledum from Alice in Wonderland.

Who do you like better — Tweedledee or Tweedledum?

You can get these pins for $17.99.

Disney Traders

Disney Traders has the new letter character keychains that we saw recently in Magic Kingdom! Each letter is themed to a different Disney character.

Should we spell our full names with these?

For example, A is for Ariel!

We also would’ve liked to see Animal from The Muppets

These are $9.99 each.

EPCOT Additional Updates

Festival of the Arts

New chalk art is being worked on for Festival of the Arts in EPCOT, like this portrait of Rapunzel, who doesn’t have her long golden locks quite yet.

Hair coming soon!

We can’t wait to see the finished artwork!

France

Over in the France pavilion, the fountain was turned off.

Why, though?!

We’re not sure why, but hopefully it gets turned back on soon!

Japan

Inside Mitsukoshi in the Japan pavilion, Setsubun was being celebrated! This is the Japanese Bean Throwing-festival. It’s the day before the beginning of spring in the old Japanese calendar and it’s for getting rid of evil spirits that bring sickness and prevent good fortune.

How Setsubun is celebrated

To celebrate, Cast Members were teaching origami! We got to pick out our own paper from a variety of fun options…

So pretty!

…and we made a swan!

Look at our swan!

This activity was only being held on the holiday — February 3rd.

Germany

And finally, in the Germany pavilion, we saw a poor train that had been derailed. Not a real train, though, just a model one!

Tragic

We hope it got back on the right track quickly.

It’ll be back up and running soon!
