REVIEW: Celebrate the Season of Love with New Specialty Cocktails from GCH Craftsman Bar & Grill at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and GCH Craftsman Bar & Grill has us prepared with these love-themed specialty cocktails. Keep on reading for our review of these new drinks.

Tuxedo Strawberry – $17

Bacardi raspberry rum, dark creme de cacao, strawberry puree and half and half. Served “up” in a chocolate-coated martini glass with strawberry garnish.

Out of these three specialty cocktails, this is probably the best one.

It’s creamy, chocolatey, and sweet but not overpoweringly so. The fresh strawberries and strawberry puree bring a bright pop of strawberry flavor to balance it out.

It’s like a chocolate-covered strawberry in a glass and despite the multiple types of alcohol present in the cocktail, it has no bite or even hint of alcohol flavor, making it super easy to have another or two more.

This is one of the better cocktails we’ve had at GCH Craftsman Bar & Grill, and we will definitely be returning for this one before the month is out.

California Crush – $17

Crown Royal Regal Apple whiskey, strawberry puree, lemon and agave. Served with a mint sprig and strawberry heart garnish.

This seemingly simple cocktail is anything but that.

The strawberry puree, lemon, and mint meld with the very unique crown Royal Regal Apple whiskey flavor to make a complex, layered experience that’s definitely more than the sum of its parts.

With an easy sweetness from the agave that never overtakes the fruit flavors, it is perfectly balanced and lets every one of the ingredients step forward like players on a stage, giving each one a moment in the spotlight before finishing in its own unique, ensemble flavor that is the running undercurrent of the drink.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this cocktail and will definitely be back for another.

Love’s Lantern – $21

Skyy citrus vodka, Chambord and lime. Garnished with edible flowers and a glow cube.

In this bright pink and vaguely Rapunzel-themed cocktail, we found lots to love.

Between the citrus vodka, the lime, and the Chambord, this is like a more complex adult-version of a pink lemonade, with multiple layers of flavor to keep your tongue guessing.

Not the best cocktail of the three, but definitely no slouch. Perfect for enjoying poolside.
