The Academy Awards are notoriously hesitant towards superhero films, and this year was no different as “Spider-Man: No Way Home” fails to swing into the Best Picture category.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” released in December 2021, broke a lengthy box office lull, surpassing the billion-dollar mark relatively quickly. It is currently the sixth highestgrossing film of all time.

The Tom Holland-led film also found acclaim within the multiverse of critics. However, in the end, it did not clinch a nod for Best Picture. The film was only nominated for Best Visual Effects.

The last Marvel film to land a Best Picture nod was Black Panther in 2019.
