Visiting Disney World with dietary restrictions can seem like a challenge, but there are a lot of options nowadays!
At the bottom of most Disney restaurant menus, you can find allergy-friendly options for things like gluten and dairy. Plus, there are SO many more plant-based foods available now in Disney World that aren’t just salads. There was a whole booth with Impossible plant-based foods at last year’s Food and Wine Festival! And, if you’re a vegan or gluten free, we found an awesome dessert for you to check out in Disney World!
Check out this vegan soft serve we found over at Fort Wilderness! It’s at the Carousel’s of Orlando food truck and is described as “Soft Serve Icery” that’s dairy-free, fat-free, gluten-free, and low calorie.

The flavors available are Mango, Cotton Candy, Blue Raspberry, Cherry, and Lemon. A kids size is $5, a regular is $6, and a large is $7.
We had to try it out, obviously, so we started with the regular Mango for $6! It reminded us of the presentation of a Dole Whip with the flavor punch of gelato. But, the texture is like a combo of Dole Whip and sorbet!
It’s frozen harder than Dole Whip and a bit icier, but the flavor is really exceptional and the fruit flavors are made with real fruit puree. If you like Dole Whip, this is kind of an upgrade, since it includes real fruit puree and Dole Whip does not!
And, the Mango flavor is REALLY GOOD, you guys. We think most people will enjoy it (as long as you don’t have a huge hatred for mangoes!). The real mango flavor is delicious in this frozen treat and it has a consistency which is totally new to us as far as Disney treats go!
Next, we tried the regular Cotton Candy with sprinkles. It tasted mostly like sugar with a little bit of vanilla to us. We were recommended to add the sprinkles by the person working at the food truck (for an extra 50 cents), which gave it almost a birthday cake flavor and made it even better. And, don’t worry — the sprinkles are also vegan and gluten-free!
This will be a great one for kids (or adults, we’re not judging!) who want something with a fun color and flavor! It’s not a health food really — it does include artificial flavoring a food dye — but it’s whimsical and delicious, especially if you have a lot of dietary restrictions and usually can’t eat treats that look like this. However, if you’re allergic to any artificial flavoring or food dyes, you should probably steer clear of this one and get one of the fruit flavors!
So, while this vegan treat is creamier than normal sorbet or Italian ice, we still think Dole Whip wins when it comes to creaminess in vegan desserts. If you don’t want something a bit more icy than Dole Whip, you might not enjoy this one. But, if you have dietary restrictions, are fine with the texture, and are looking for something with a punch of flavor that uses real fruit (or you want that fun Cotton Candy flavor), this is an awesome option to have!
If you want to try these frozen treats out for yourself, head on over to Fort Wilderness! Right now, they’re at the resort every Monday and Tuesday each week. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney food news and reviews.
