What Does the Tron Ride Construction Look Like in Magic Kingdom Right Now?

“I kept dreaming of a world I thought I’d never see. And then one day…I got in.”

We’ve been waiting for the Tron ride FOREVER

That line from Tron: Legacy could very well sum up how we feel about the Tron Lightcycle Run ride coming to Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. Construction continues on the ride, and we’ve been following its progress for what seems like FOREVER, but today, we’ve got an update for you!

The best way to get a good view of what’s happening with the Tron ride construction is from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. We don’t really need an excuse to ride the PeopleMover, but we’ll take it!

Today, we noticed that the side of the ride closest to the Tomorrowland Speedway has more of that white canopy on the lower part of the ride’s frame. Eventually, that canopy will cover the entire frame.

This canopy is new

A lot of dirt has been moved and more space has been cleared on the other side of the ride.

There are a ton of construction vehicles around the site, too — it looks like some are there to work on adding more features to the ride’s main frame.

LOTS of construction

There’s still a LOT of white canopy that still needs to be installed, though.

A lot more canopy needs to be installed

As we’ve seen in concept art and from the version of the ride at Shanghai Disneyland — the canopy will light up from below.

Tron Lightcycle Run was initially scheduled to be done in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary, which started last year, but that opening was delayed. Currently, Disney has not yet released a timeframe for when the attraction might open, and as you can see from our photos, there’s still a lot of work that needs to happen before it’s complete.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on construction progress for Tron Lightcycle Run and let you know if Disney makes any announcements about when it might finally open. So stay tuned for more Disney news!
