Could an ‘Encanto’ Attraction Come to the Disney Parks? One Important Person Has Already Made the Case for It!

We are refraining from starting this article with yet another “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” joke and we’d like a little credit for that. 😂

Disney’s Encanto has taken the world by storm. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” charted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, it has 100 million streams on Spotify, and the film is returning to theaters to celebrate its global success. If you’re like us, one of the first things you thought after watching Encanto was, “This could make a great ride in Disney World!” And while the Encanto booth has been a hit at the Festival of the Arts, the movie has the potential to be a much bigger presence in the parks — at least one person seems to think so!

In an interview with The Wrap, Lin-Manuel Miranda (who wrote all of the catchy tunes for Encanto that we can’t get out of our heads) revealed that he has already pitched the idea for an Encanto ride to Disney CEO, Bob Chapek. This came after a statement where Chapek said that Encanto was Disney’s “new animated franchise.”

We Can’t Stop Talking about Encanto!

Miranda said he told Chapek, “I know there’s a world in which this casita lives in a theme park and we get to actually walk through it in real life.”

When asked about whether he wants a theme park attraction or potentially a Colombia pavilion in EPCOT, Lin-Manuel shared that he took his family to Disneyland pre-pandemic and sat through The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure about 5 times.

Miranda said, “That’s where my brain goes. It’s like, I want to go in and out of this casita and see those characters and see the house respond because that’s something Disney can do that no one else can do.”

Miranda said, “We are just enjoying how much it’s connected right now. There have been really no conversations about what is the next form for the Madrigal family.”
