REVIEW: You’ve Got to See the EATS at a 5-Star Booth at EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival

It’s the first day of the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival and we’re here trying out all kinds of food and drinks!

Happy Flower and Garden Festival!

We’ve already had some great eats, and we’ve also been checking out the new merchandise and live entertainment around the park. But we’re just getting started! There’s so much more to eat, so come along with us to try out all the food and drinks over at La Isla Fresca!

Menu

La Isla Fresca is a returning booth, but the menu over here is completely different from last year’s festival! It’s comprised of both new items and items from different booths or EPCOT festivals. The booth is located between the Morocco and France pavilions in World Showcase.

There are various Arepas on the menu, as well as some tropical drinks!

So, let’s try some food!

Food

First, we got the Arepas topped with melted queso fresco for $5. This item was also at Festival of the Holidays in 2019 over at the Feast of the Three Kings booth. We thought these arepas were pretty good, but they could have used some more interesting flavors. They’re very doughy, which is to be expected with arepas, but they really needed something besides the queso fresco to soak up more flavor.

Next, we got the Arepa topped with shrimp, crushed avocado ají, and tomato sauce for $6.75. This was also at the Feast of the Three Kings booth from Festival of the Holidays in 2019.

This arepa had exactly what the plain ones were missing — lots of interesting flavors! It came with three large shrimp on top, and the aji is packing some definite heat. We also really enjoyed the big chunks of fresh avocado on top. This was one of our favorite dishes, and we loved how the arepa soaked in all of the flavors.

Shrimp on top

After that, we tried a new Arepa! This one is topped with chorizo for $6.25.

This dish also had a ton of flavor, but it wasn’t quite as spicy as the shrimp one. The chorizo had plenty of spices in it, and if you love Mexican food, we think this will be a great choice for you.

Chorizo arepa

To enjoy these dishes, you’ve got to like arepas. Some people may think they’re too dry in general, but that’s just the nature of this particular food.

Finally, for dessert, we got the new Coconut Tres Leches. This is a vanilla cake soaked in oat milk, almond milk, and coconut milk with toasted coconut for $4.50. This item is also part of the Garden Graze this year!

Coconut Tres Leches

This cake was so good that we really wish we had the recipe! The coconut flavor was there, but it wasn’t too overwhelming.

The cake is super moist but not to the point of being soaked through. This was one of our favorite desserts at the festival!

Beverages

Now, for the drinks! We tried all three drinks here, including the Tropical Breeze, Tropical Perception White Sangria, and the Coconut Key Lime Ale.

Coconut Key Lime Ale, White Sangria, Tropical Breeze

The new Tropical Breeze consists of lemonade, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup for $4.50. You can also add rum to it for a total of $11. We thought this drink was delicious! It’s pretty sweet with the syrup added, but the grapefruit juice balances it out nicely. The lemonade also has a sour note, so you’re getting all kinds of flavors in this drink. Overall, super refreshing and tasty!

Drinks

After that, we got the new Tropical Perception White Sangria for $11. This drink is very citrusy and a little bit sweet, but it’s still very refreshing. It pairs well with the spicy arepas.

Drinks at La Isla Fresca

The last drink available over here is the Coconut Key Lime Ale, which is $5 for 6 oz. and $9 for 12 oz. This was available in past years over at The Citrus Blossom, but it’s new to this booth! This beer was surprisingly delicious to us.

Overall

This was one of our favorite booths at this festival! The only things we didn’t love were the plain arepas, but everything else really delivered on flavor. We can’t decide if we love the shrimp or chorizo arepas more. And that cake for dessert was *chef’s kiss* amazing. You really don’t want to miss this festival booth!
