If you’re going on a Disney Cruise soon, there’s a MAJOR update you need to know about.
We’ve seen a number of changes and updates made regarding Disney Cruise Line and COVID-19 (in general) lately. Disney Cruise Line has updated some policies regarding testing positive for COVID-19 and on the more general side, we’ve seen the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announce some big mask policy changes. Soon more changes will be taking place when it comes to Disney Cruise Line’s COVID-19 policies and masks.
Disney Cruise Line has announced that following the updated face mask guidance from the CDC, they will be updating their face mask requirements for sailings that originate from a U.S. port of departure. The Disney Cruise Line website has also been updated to reflect this new information.
Specifically, beginning on March 11th, 2022, face masks will become optional in most indoor locations throughout Disney Cruise Line’s ships (again, this is for sailings that originate from a U.S. port of departure).
But, according to the Disney Cruise Line website, even after this new policy begins, “guests ages 2 and up, including those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, will still be required to wear face coverings in the Walt Disney Theatre.”
Also under the new policy, guests who are under 5 years old who are currently not eligible to be vaccinated for COVID-19 will be required to wear masks in “Youth Activity spaces and in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.”
Disney also notes that, while it won’t be required, they do strongly recommend that these guests (under 5 who are not eligible for the vaccine yet) continue to wear a mask in all other indoor locations on the ship.
Disney Cruise Line also shares that masks might be required in some ports of call depending on local government requirements, so that’s something to keep in mind.
Through March 10th, 2022, the current mask rules will continue to be in place. These current mask rules require all guests ages 2 and up (including those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19) to wear masks indoors, except when in their staterooms or actively eating or drinking (while stationary and distanced).
Disney Cruise Line’s policies note what types of masks are and are not allowed, and have specific rules regarding costume masks, masks with plastic panels, and more.
Of course, remember that Disney Cruise Line’s masks policies can change again.
