Are you ready for some heat? This 2022 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival booth has got you covered!
The Food and Wine Festival is BACK at DCA this year from March 4th to April 26th, 2022, and we’re going to take a look at all the entertainment and new merchandise, as well as try lots of exciting new foods! The food booths actually opened a day early, so you get this review a day early, too! WOOHOO. We hope we don’t regret trying this booth’s spicy food!
Menu
On the menu for Peppers Cali-Ente are two NEW dishes, including the Chile Relleno Empanada and the Ají de Gallina. There’s also one drink to choose from, and it’s made with habanero-pineapple juice!
Get ready, because it’s about to get SPICY (maybe? Let’s find out!).
Food
Who’s ready to try out these two new food items?! We know we are!
First, we tried the Chile Relleno Empanada with Arbol Pepper Salsa, featuring Cacique Oaxaca and Cotija Cheeses for $8.50.
This empanada has a flaky and crispy outside with melty, ooey-gooey cheese on the inside, and you can’t really go wrong with melty cheese, right?! The pepper salsa is also really tasty! Overall, this item is not too spicy, but it has a TON of flavor! It’s one of our favorites at the festival so far!
Next, we ordered the Ají de Gallina, which is spicy yellow chile creamed chicken with jasmine rice and olive tapenade for $7.25.
This item is unfortunately not very photogenic, but it does TASTE great, which is all that really matters! The chicken and rice are both cooked very well, but we don’t really think they need the olive tapenade it comes with. It doesn’t add much to the dish, because the other items can hold their own!
This one was super flavorful and wasn’t overly spicy either, so you shouldn’t worry about it burning your mouth!
Drink
Note that there is also a Cantarito-style Paloma at this booth for $14.
This drink is made with Reposado Tequila, Habanero-Pineapple Juice, Rock Melon Syrup, Lime, and Fresca. If you like spicy margs, this one is for you!
Overall
We thought that Peppers Cali-Ente was a super flavorful booth with some great items! We would definitely consider the empanada a MUST eat for anyone looking for something super tasty, and while you’re here, you might as well get the Ají de Gallina too, because it’s also yummy.
We’ll be coming to you with more from DCA’s Food and Wine Festival, so stay tuned to DFB for news and updates!
