Disneyland is Fixing a BIG Problem Before Fantasmic! Returns

There are a lot of changes in the works at Disneyland right now!

Sleeping Beauty Castle

For example, TONS of nighttime entertainment is coming back in the next month, THREE fan-favorite rides are closing for refurbishment, and Mickey’s Toontown is undergoing a full transformation. And, on top of it all, Disney has shared that they will be taking some time to fix a pinch point in Disneyland Park to help with crowding moving forward.

As we previously reported, Pirates of the Caribbean will close for its seasonal refurbishment on March 14th. And, according to the Orange County Register, Disney will be using that time to improve the traffic flow in New Orleans Square where the attraction is located.

While the attraction itself will get some TLC, Disney Imagineers will also take the opportunity to “partially modify” the extended queue which has led to overcrowding in the area in the past.

Disney officials shared that they plan to have the work complete before May 28th when Fantasmic! returns. Disneyland does not have a dedicated seating area for Fantasmic! like Disney World, so New Orleans Square becomes even more crowded as guests stake out spots around Rivers of America before and during the show.

Disney also confirmed that this update will not impact the Fantasmic! viewing areas or platforms (though, some will be lowered) along the Rivers of America, as all of the trees and green space will return once the work is complete.
