An old Irish proverb says “May the road rise up to meet you.” In our case, it’s more like “May the snacks rise up to meet you,” because that’s exactly what they’ve done today!

St. Patrick’s Day snacks have officially made their way to both Disney World and Disneyland, and we’re doing what we do — trying them all! We’ve eaten our share of hats, rainbow-topped donuts, bright green cupcakes, and more. But we’re just getting started, because it’s now time to try out a St. Patrick’s Day Whoopie Pie!

For this treat, we’re heading over to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland. The Holiday Cart there is FULL of fun, new St. Patrick’s Day and Easter treats! But we’re looking for one in particular.

The St. Patrick’s Day Whoopie Pie is a chocolate whoopie pie filled with vanilla buttercream and rolled in shamrock sprinkles.

It looks a lot like the normal, non-holiday version of this treat, but with a little St. Patrick’s Day twist!

We thought this was a really tasty treat, and the chocolate cake was very moist and rich. The filling was nice and fluffy, and we thought the ratio of cake to filling was just about perfect.

If you’re trying this treat, be ready for a LOT of sugar. Between the cake, buttercream, and sprinkles, you’ll be on a sugar high for the rest of the day! In general, we think this is a simple and delicious treat in Disneyland (and kids especially will like it), but it’s not necessarily the most exciting option available. So we enjoyed it, but we probably won’t choose it over funnel cake fries or a specialty churro next time!
