What The MENU and PRICING Could Look Like When The Cake Bake Shop Opens In Disney World

Disney World must have known that we’d feel robbed by the announcement that our beloved BoardWalk Bakery will be transformed into a sandwich shop because they pulled out all the stops to distract us by also announcing that a  🚨  BRAND NEW RESTAURANT  🚨  is coming instead The Cake Bake Shop!

Expected to open in 2023, The Cake Bake Shop is said to bring a “whimsical atmosphere that complements the magic of the idyllic charm of Disney’s BoardWalk that guests know and love” according to Disney. But, this new restaurant and bakeshop won’t be unique to Disney World — there are actually already TWO locations in the U.S. owned by the award-winning Gwendolyn Rogers. So, why wait to start dreaming up what will be offered on the sweet and savory menus, as well as afternoon tea service? We’re diving into the menus that are currently offered at the two Indianapolis locations to see what we can expect when it opens in Disney World!

Currently, The Cake Bake Shop has locations in both Carmel City Center (which is in Carmel, Indianapolis) and Broad Ripple Village (which is in Indianapolis). So, this will be the FIRST location outside of the state! Both spots offer up a pretty similar menu (along with pricing), so we can get a pretty good idea of what might be coming to Disney. Though, keep in mind that this certainly could change and it wouldn’t be the first time that we see a restaurant offer up exclusive items in Disney World if there are any significant differences (like Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs).

So, enough disclaimers, let’s get to the CAKE! 🍰

Dessert Menu

The Cake Bake Shop’s daily menu features three sections — the Savory Menu, Dessert Menu, and Bar Menu. Yes, our mothers told us that we always had to eat our meal before dessert, but we’re violating this golden parenting rule and kicking things off with the Dessert Menu!

Coming in at the top of the menu are all the cakes and…umm…we’re already drooling. 😜 The signature cake on the menu is Gwendoly’s Famous Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake which is “named after the Earl’s Court Convention Center in London where Gwendolyn received awards for Best Chocolate Cake.” So, we can probably expect this to be one of the best chocolate cakes we’ve ever had.

Other signature cakes include a Millionaire Cake (which is a layering of Valrhona French chocolate cake filled with ganache, homemade salted caramel, vanilla buttercream, and homemade butter shortbread cookies), Raspberry Champagne Cake, and even a gluten-free cake that was featured on Oprah’s ‘O’ List in the April 2018 edition of The Oprah Magazine.

It looks like you’re going to need to be ready to shell out some serious cash for these cake slices though because they range in price from $15-$17. That may be a reasonable price if they’re anything close to the size of the cake slices from Gideon’s Bakehouse, although they cost around $9 usually.

And, while “cake” may be in the name, this bakery is much more than just a cake shop! The menu features a variety of Pies, Cheesecakes, and Cookies & Bars as well! Pies range in price from $12-$15, cheesecakes are $16, and the cookies are bars are priced between $6-$11.

Plus, if it all didn’t sound sweet enough, we HAVE to note that the menu also says that you can add a scoop of their homemade vanilla ice cream can be added to cakes AND pies for an extra $6!

Speaking of ice cream, you can also find a variety of scoops, cones, and sundaes on the menu, with the Million Dollar Sundae ringing in at a whopping $38. This will likely be comparable to Beaches & Cream’s Kitchen Sink Sundae (priced at $35), but instead of just eating out of a big ‘ol kitchen sink, it comes served in a ceramic SWAN that you get to take home!

Other desserts include French Pastries (which are unique macarons) and non-alcoholic drinks like the Petunia Punch (which is marked as a Cake Bake Shop fave) and Sparkling Lavender Lemonade ranging in price from $4-$8.

And, to top off the dessert menu, we’ve got a selection of milks & hot chocolates (can we talk about how whimsical the Unicorn Hot Chocolate sounds!?), coffee and espresso drinks, and tea drinks that all cost between $5-$14.

Now onto the savory menu!

Savory Menu

If you’re dining here for more than just dessert (and if the menu is anything similar to the other two locations), you’ll be treated to some up-scale (and PRICEY) selections! The menu features a selection of Hor D’Oeuvres with pricing ranging from $14-$60 (!!). But, before you lose your jaw on the floor from that price range, know that the Charcuterie Board (which is $60) is FAN-CY! Like, you need to eat this with your pinky-up fancy.

It is made to be split between 2-4 people and comes with a selection of freshly sliced meats and cheeses with seasonal accouterments of fruits, pickled crudités, olives, nuts, and our Cake Bake Shop jam. Plus, it’s served with slices of French baguette. And, get this — it takes 20-25 minutes just to MAKE because there are so many ingredients!

But, that’s not to say that this spot won’t cost you an arm and a leg to dine at potentially — salads range from $16-$36 and quiche is $17.

Based on the menu for the locations that are open, it looks like you’ll be able to choose to get a cup or a bowl of soup (costing between $9-16) and there will also be a variety of sandwiches available that come served with fries or fresh fruit (costing between $18-$35). And, if you want the best of both worlds, you can “Choose Two” (soup and salad) for $20.

If you’re looking for something a bit more filling, entrees include things like pasta, burgers, steak, and seafood costing between $18-$48, and there are also a selection of sides for anywhere from $4-$10. And, if you think that ordering a kids meal could save you some cash, you’d be mostly right — they’re priced between $12-$16.

Usually, we use this hack (ordering up a kid’s meal) to save some money, but the menu does note that these selections are for children ages 12 and younger. So, there are no guarantees that they’ll actually let an adult order them.

And, to drink, the selections are pretty similar to what we saw on the dessert menu.

And, there are more drinks on the menu if you’re looking for something a bit boozier!

Bar Menu

We’ve thrown around the words “whimsical,” “up-scale,” and “fancy” a lot already, but if you had any doubts about just how classy this new restaurant might be, the bar menu will wipe them all away. The drink menu BEGINS with champagne cocktails that cost between $15-$22 per GLASS

…and there are tons of Signature Cocktails, Classic Cocktails, and New Orleans Inspired Cocktails that are $15 at the very least. And, there’s even a signature cocktail for $42 (!!!) — the Cloud Nine. Now, this is another one where you’ll actually be getting a souvenir out of the price as well, as the coconut-infused sake, pineapple juice, simple syrup, and fresh lime cocktail comes served in a ceramic swan that you get to take home with you.

And, beyond the specialty cocktails, you’ll also find a selection of wines and beers on the menu. LOTS to choose from!

Afternoon Tea Service

We also know that the new restaurant in Disney World will offer an afternoon tea service, and this is something that is done at the other locations too! So, to give you an idea of what it could cost, at the Broad Ripple Village location the Afternoon Tea With Champagne is priced at $80 per person, Afternoon Tea Without Champagne is $65 per person, and Afternoon Tea For Children costs $45 per person.

For this price, you get freshly baked scones served with classic English clotted cream, European salted butter, and the Cake Bake Shop private-label jam. Plus, it includes three varieties of finger sandwiches (including herbed goat cheese with thinly sliced cucumber, egg salad, and our famous chicken salad), a variety of mini decadent desserts, and The Cake Bake Shop’s Dammann Frères tea.

To put the cost into perspective, when it was being offered the cheapest Afternoon Tea Service at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa cost $35 per person and included a pot of tea of your choice, tea sandwiches, a scone with accompaniments, and your choice of dessert. There weren’t any alcoholic options when it was being offered (though you could add champagne for an additional cost), but depending on what package you selected it could cost up to $150 per person.

So, it looks like we have A LOT to look forward to trying at the new Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers when it arrives in Disney World in 2023! And, it’s a good thing that we’ve got a year or so to save up because…well…it ain’t cheap.
