REVIEW: Start Your Day on a Good Note with Breakfast at Wind & Waves Grill at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

We recently had the chance to dine at the Wind & Waves Grill for both dinner and breakfast at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. Here’s what we thought about the breakfast offerings we tried.

Interior

This casual American cafe has a beautiful interior with golden accents.

The Wind & Waves Grill features an open kitchen.

Menu

The breakfast menu offered plenty of options for both the adventurous and pickier eaters at your party.

The breakfast menu has some alcoholic specialty drinks, regular Joffrey’s coffee, and POG juice for your POG juice fans.

Breakfast Bread Basket – $9

Our bread basket came with a Cinnamon Roll, Buttermilk Biscuit, and two croissants.

These full-size, freshly out of the oven pastries were a great start to our breakfast.

The pastries are served with butter and grape and strawberry jellies.

Breakfast Entrées

Walt’s Spam-Cheddar Biscuits and Eggs – $13

Spam-Cheddar Warm Biscuits with White Gravy and Two Eggs-Your Way

There are a lot of dishes that are sold as Walt’s favorite. However, as this is a Walt Disney World 50th anniversary special, we wanted to try it out.

Spam and cheddar are baked into the biscuits. There was not much gravy on the side.

We went for the over-medium eggs, so we had a balanced breakfast dish.

Certain egg preparations may make this dish too dry, so choose your eggs with that in mind.

Although the biscuits were dry, we enjoyed the dish. But we would probably opt for a different entrée next time.

Hawaiian-Style Loco Moco – $14

Two Eggs-Your Way, Hamburger Steak, Bacon-fried Rice, Mushroom-Onion Gravy

The server told us that this was the first dish the restaurant’s Hawaiian-native chef put on the menu when he arrived at Vero Beach.

The menu description makes it sound intimidating, but the ingredients combined nicely. This dish was a perfect fit for a reasonably late breakfast getting close to lunchtime.

The rice and bacon piled on the hamburger streak was a great surprise and made the dish unique. The gravy on top was not too overwhelming, and the mushrooms didn’t overpower. We would order this dish again.

Overall

The portions are pretty large, and you will be able to start your day at the beach or pool well-fed. It was a great start to our day, and we would return to this restaurant for breakfast.
